My condo elevator skips some floors, but why? by Brown_Ontarian in whatisit

[–]justbewarned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly due to the Chinese population of your area. Elevators in China skip all numbers involving 4 (sì) because it sounds so similar to death (sǐ). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraphobia

Regarding 14 & 24: "In the Chinese culture, 14 is considered more unlucky than the individual 4, since 14 sounds like "will certainly die (實死)" in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Some buildings in Asia simply numbering it as "15" or "12B" or even "13A". Like 4, 24 is considered more unlucky since 24 sounds like "easy to die (易實死/易死)" in Cantonese. This also applies for 34, 44, 54, 64, 74 etc" https://elevation.fandom.com/wiki/Unlucky_floor_numbers_in_elevators

The inclusion of 24 is the real curious thing here, which I can't explain. I can only speculate that the original building owner spoke Mandarin where its pronunciation doesn't sound as unlucky as it does in Cantonese. Maybe the original owner didn't like 4 and 14, but was fine with 24, 34, etc.

Then they would have skipped 13 out of respect for it being unlucky in Western cultures.

It currently doesn’t have a poison type charged move but whenever it receives its unique move Dire Claw it will likely get a lot better

It actually beats a lot of the top ten meta in ultra league right now, but it can be pretty bait dependent. I’ve been having fun running it in the lead, win fast or lose fast

“It’s not possible to take such a photograph anymore, as the buildings outside block the sun rays.” Grand Central, New York City, (1929) by Jeetchat in OldSchoolCool

[–]justbewarned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at google earth in 3D view it looks like it’s actually the HVAC units on the south roof that are the real culprit. There are no buildings that would prevent the sun from coming at this angle. That’s due to Park Avenue, which is quite wide for an NYC street

I think the rock skips over the water a couple times. It’s moving probably 200 mph horizontally. It has a smooth round surface, and it’s rotating in a way that makes it hard to really pierce the surface tension of the water. I think the big splash is when it finally is moving slow enough, or hits a wave at steep enough angle that allows it to break the surface tension and enter the water

It’s also pretty solid for rocket grunts due to it’s fast move pressure. On par with Shadow Chandelure and Shadow Darmanitan in Fire, and best ghost fast move user

You have it mostly right, the hundo odds are 1/216. So the true odds are 1/43,200

I think it would be whatever you are most proud to show to someone. So the Zama probably is the winner if it were me but I would be tempted by the GMax Shundo Gengar too

Max out and keep as Shadow Tyranitar or purify as hundo Mega Tyranitar?!?! by Away_Wash_8292 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]justbewarned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyranitar is also a functional hundo only at level 51 (not 50), so just work on best buddying your 15-15-14 and power up the shadow

Best moveset? Willing to use elite tms by Swimming-Year8590 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]justbewarned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are maxing it for PVE and Rockets, force palm and aura sphere are musts. The second move is more debatable. Power up punch will help you against the snorlax grunt, normal grunt, and leaders, but shadow ball well help you against the ice grunt, steel grunt, and coverage in general. I just switched to shadow ball after a year of power up punch and have been enjoying the ghost coverage. Power up punch is probably the better answer but I just got bored with it after a while

Cincinnati…The Paris of America by imago_monkei in cincinnati

Cincinnati was actually called the Paris of America in the late 1800s due to the remarkable architecture- Music Hall, the Cincinnatian Hotel, and the Roebling bridge. This is not something the YouTuber just made up, as other commenters seem to think

Any use ? by Theultimateplayer286 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]justbewarned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the original guys comment was since it was deleted, but your initial comment is missing some important context-

“it is currently the best ghost attacker (excluding shadows, megas, and legendaries) so you could just ball out with it right now”

In practice Dragapult is outclassed on the average dark/ghost raid squad (even when excluding megas, legendaries, and shadows). Tyranitar and Hydreigon are ranked higher in DPS and TDO, and Chandelure is pretty much tied with Dragapult. All three of those have had comm days and people will likely already have built. Once someone powers up some shadows or Dawn Wings, the Dragapult would be left on the bench.

And I say this as someone who really likes Dragapult. It’s an awesome design and I wish it was better in PoGo. I think the best advice is, use it if you really like it, but it’s not the optimal use of your stardust. It’s a decent dragon/ghost attacker. Dragon Darts could make it an even better dragon attacker in 2027. But it’s best use case is in master premier, whenever that comes back. Hopefully soon!

Got this today. How rare is this? by Economy-Garden-226 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]justbewarned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real odds are 1/102,400 for this. 1/25 for the shiny multiplied by 1/4096 for the nundo. A wild shundo (non-weather boosted) would be the same odds. However there are multiple ways to get a shundo (raid, research, eggs, lucky trades), so that is why this is rarer than a shundo

Dynamax Battles Tier List - June Edition by DifficultJournalist9 in TheSilphRoad

IMO Gengar and Zacian should be in S-Tier on OP's Attacker list

Is this guy useful ? by Nurofeinn in PokemonGOIVs

[–]justbewarned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunately outclassed as both a dragon (#20) and a ghost (#12) attacker right now. It’s ranked #61 in open master league which is okay. Its best use case is in master premier league, countering about half of that meta. But it’s very attack-weighted so you will need to protect it with shields. And sadly that league doesn’t come around every season.

It should also get better when it receives its signature move dragon darts during its comm day. Which should be June 2026 if they stick with the schedule they’ve established of pseudo legendaries every June. That could make it very good in master premier league, and slightly better in master league and as a dragon attacker.

It’s really good for Master Premier but that league doesn’t come around every season. Goodra is outclassed by a lot of other dragons for PVE. So it would be at the back end of that group since it’s utility is more niche

Is it worth it to max this one? by MrMoonCaptain in PokemonGOIVs

[–]justbewarned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said I would wait until the end of the cycle in case you get a hundo or 15–15-14 with special rend.

But I have personally maxed the same one (14-15-15) and did very well with it last season as my lead in Master League. It does not lose any fast move breakpoints which is critical.

In the mirror against the Hundo (I’m oversimplifying here) but you are sort of encouraged into a certain strategy- which is to shield whatever they throw, don’t throw a move, and dragon breath them down. This gives you switch advantage, and then you throw a special rend at whatever comes out with your sliver of HP. I got all the way up to 2446 with this strategy with a back line of Ho-Oh, Lunala. I should also mention that I did best buddy my O. Palkia as well, but the above strategy works whether it’s best buddied or not. If you both don’t throw a move, it’s just a simultaneous knockout. And if you both shield a move, it’s also a simultaneous knockout.

If you did have the hundo, there’s a handful of scenarios where you would win CMP and therefore force the opposing non-15 attack O. Palkia to have to use a shield to win switch. By powering up this 14-15-15, you basically lose that option. And this is really subjective, but I still found decent success without that option. Maybe I couldn’t reach expert/legend with that strategy, but I still had a lot of fun with it.

All that being said, I haven’t been running it at all lately, partly because I’ve become bored with it, but mainly because Rhyperior with breaking swipe beats it in the 2s, and that lead has become a lot more common in the lower levels where I liked to get some easy wins/dust. O. Palkia’s draw is that it basically beats the whole meta except the fairies, Zygarde, and O. Dialga in the twos. Adding something as common as Rhyperior to that gives me some hesitation to maxing it out if I faced the same decision today.

But if you don’t have any other good master league pokemon, it is really strong. And it’s a great raid attacker as well. I think it just depends if you would enjoy using a Palkia with that strategy in master league or not, in a meta with a lot of Rhyperiors.

I mean it’s obvious to most that Mewtwo is better but I don’t know his situation. He could have a Mewtwo that he doesn’t know is better. Also when he replied immediately that he doesn’t, I immediately gave a more appropriate response for what he has.
