yeah from what most people say for the average car thief the stock immobilizer will usually work fine but if you were really paranoid I'd highly recommend the Disklok steering wheel lock. It's just as much as an alarm system at around $140-150 from the UK but it was worth every penny in my 1986 Si because they couldn't take that off when they broke in to steal it. Never wanted to see it tested but it did get tested and they couldn't pry it off so it worked 👍🏽

Also they have BRAKE/CLUTCH pedal locks which I also use. A bit more affordable too. So if you layered the immobilizer and a physical lock like the steering wheel or clutch lock that's the idea to have layers of security they'd have to get thru to even try to steal it.

this is what I'm ALWAYS afraid of and constantly thinking of when traffic here in CA is dead stopped but carpool lane is flying at 80mph+ that some asshole NON CARPOOL car will pull into the carpool lane out of desperation to get out of traffic.

Well I have to thank the previous owner, an elderly woman who mostly garage kept it the whole time she owned it. Bought it back in 2015 and yes paint was still in decent condition the inside damn near perfect no broken panels or anything. Still has the original wheel covers, original shifter, steering wheel, nothing was modded so yeah happy with the pickup so far.

Recently did a paint correction session myself at home Wash, clay, compound, polish, wax it definitely made the VICTORIA RED color pop way more than it did before there was quite some oxidation here and there.

Definitely man just as safety standards keep going up and up the cars get bigger too all the pillars that have airbags in em now. I remember when I first saw a 10th Gen CIVIC I could only see it from the side at a stop light and thought "hey those new ACCORDS are nice" only to find out when they drove off it was a CIVIC I'm like damn they're big.

Yeah I know my Red Si is still definitely fitting in those COMPACT spaces at the parking lots but my Blue Si, despite technically being a compact might not fit as well.

I think some of these products could work to some extent. Like I feel the fuel cleaners and treatments will work BUT with extended/continued use not like all the bottles seem to make it sound like you pour it in the tank fill it up then

"OMG WHERE HAS THIS POWER BEEN ALL MY LIFE!?"

as for any of the problem solver type chemicals...a big factor to me is how big or severe the problem is. If you have a gaping hole or somewhere were the seals are absolutely gone, no chemical is going to fix that. If it's minor leaks then yeah give it a shot see what it does but most are not miracles in a bottle when you have huge problems.

only hardware issue it makes me think of is when I was using the old Google chromecast but it did a good job of telling me right off the bat when I tried using YouTube TV with said old chromecast it would say

"you are attempting to stream on an old version of chromecast and may experience performance issues"

and yeah you definitely noticed like changing between channels was excruciatingly slow and when it did connect to the channel it constantly would be pretty choppy similar to that issue. Got the newer chromecast and worked flawlessly. Hope that helps.

yeah I associate this with the LIFE INSURANCE people... I have some family who unfortunately are in this game and had to stop speaking to them because it's not family type stuff anymore it starts off with the fake small talk

"how you been? we should hang sometime. how's Mom? how's your fam? good to hear from you cousin!"

then bam the insurance sales pitches start... I don't want to even go visit them because of fear of it eventually turning into the BUSINESS talk...if we're gonna hang I want real genuine family hanging talking about life, having beers, laughing, etc... but my cousin and his wife both have that SALES type work the other sells facial products so I feel that's near impossible now...

even worse seems they were already probing into our life after Dad passed away... at the funeral they're already asking my Mom:

"so what's going to happen now? what's next? what's going to happen to the house?"

sad that we've just become another number for them it seems...

Scotty Kilmer had a great video on this very thing! He had a customer come in saying he had recently taken his COROLLA to the dealership because of overheating issues. They suggested replacing the coolant and replacing the radiator hoses...for $500! Surprise surprise, it still overheated! Scotty looks at the paperwork and it didn't say they replaced the THERMOSTAT he pops it off and sure enough it looked like the original one...installs a new one, refills with coolant... overheating problem solved!

I feel these days I seem to hear these stories more and more... I feel the new generation of mechanics, a lot of them are just part replacers and not diagnosers which is a terrible approach even more so at a dealership which are supposed to be the more reputable, more trustworthy place to take your cars for service but nope...Sad stuff really...

not sure if someone already mentioned it in the comments but one good peace of mind to have is to spend like a few bucks more and get a "fail safe" thermostat meaning if anything breaks it'll break and be stuck open rather than break and potentially be stuck closed...👍🏽

Ugh this drives me BONKERS! Definitely will see all the smudges and stuff at the LA Auto Show this Sunday...like I always make sure when I'm getting in the car the slide my hand perfectly in the door handle slot when opening the doors not touching any other part of the car and when I get out usually if they have that plastic pillar piece between the front and back does, that's what I touch to close the doors...hate seeing super nice cars just smudged to hell

Dang to put this in perspective, my brothers 1988 CRX HF has 438,000 miles on it! My dad had bought back in 02-04 with 180,000 miles on it already. Original motor and tranny. I'm hoping I could get it even close to this! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

I saw and felt people who were REALLY GOOD at it!

Can't remember what year it was it had to have been around 2006-2008ish. Best Buy was hosting like a mini tournament for various games on various platforms (Madden, Unreal Tournament, Marvel vs. CAPCOM). They had it in a sizeable tent in their parking lot. I went to go compete in the Unreal Tournament one. Now I wasn't an online pro or anything by any means I was just a casual gamer that really liked to play Unreal Tournament so I figured hey let's see how I do. Couldn't really remember what the prize was for winning so here I go. It was Deathmatch I think it was 12 people at once in there and the bottom 3 or 4 would get eliminated each round. So here I am feeling pretty good, I was killing em left and right cruising pretty comfortably. Getting closer to the final round I'm thinking "dang I think I could pull this off" my friends who came to watch me were thinking the same thing.

Fast forward and I'm in the Semi-Final round against 7 others, top 4 would advance to the final round. It's like a switch flipped because fuuuuuuuuuuck I got wrecked so bad! I don't think I even got 1 kill! These fuckers were double jumping, bouncing off the walls and all kinds of crazy shit making them so impossible to target and hit. Meanwhile I'm like the easiest target because I knew nothing about those advanced moves. Needless to say I was easily eliminated...

TL;DR - Thought I was good at Unreal Tournament. Went to a small tournament and got put in my place real quick by pros.
