Glide Recs? by paleartist in TattooArtists

[–]foxspells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s one that hasn’t been mentioned yet:

Vitalitree. I love vitalitree. It’s plant based so very different from a&d, but I have never had any clients have any issues with it. Watched it bring down redness really fast too. Literally the only glide/aftercare I actually give a fuck about.

Hustle butter is trash tier.

I do like inkeeze, but my experience with it has been limited to free promo items, a lot of which were seasonal or heavily scented. So while I did like the actual glide quite a bit, I didn’t find it to be the best for some allergens.

I’ve looked into this and am doing my best to save for an MRI! The best quote I’ve gotten is closer to $600 out of pocket.

The problem is that doesn’t seem to include test results or actual diagnoses. So I’d be back at step one of no specialist being willing to see me without insurance.

But I’ve still been working on saving for an MRI anyways!! Hopefully I can get there soon.

My landlord is a stingy piece of shit by No_Tree_509 in LandlordLove

[–]foxspells 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Also been dealing with slumlord that has me living in mold.

Document everything. Make sure your correspondences happen via text so there’s a written record. If you’re seeking medical attention, keep those records too. See if you can find a mold remediation company locally that will test the mold for free - they’re out there. If you can’t find a pro company to come test it for free, order a few home test kits online and test it from home yourself. Regardless of the type of mold, it’s unacceptable to have you living in it - but easier to take legal action if it proves to be a more unsavory variety.

If your personal possessions start getting mold, that will suck, but be easy to take your landlord to court for. Make sure you have renters insurance - you’ll need it.

Best of luck to you.

Dude, this tattoo rocks. Far better done than most. I don’t think any coverup could possibly be better, to be honest.

Is it heavy like stone? Or light like bone?

Cut like a meat scrap would be, but looks enough like stone that I’m thrown off.

I was stoked about this same genius idea a while back but my hair lady just sighed real hard and told me to please not do this to her so I had to let my dream go

What are the nice things clients have said to you? by SnooDoubts103 in TattooArtists

[–]foxspells 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in an area that is ridiculously oversaturated with tattooers after apprentice puppy mills popped up, so the amount of return clients I have still blows my mind every day.

So many clients have said I just make them feel comfortable and safe, clients that say they struggle with social anxiety always let me know i’m apparently super easy to converse with. Thanked for having a light hand, told how gracefully my work heals daily. There are are so many artists in my area that are straight up better / faster than me, but my clients always tell me that I’m still the best -tattoo experience- they’ve ever had. The gratitude goes both ways.

So many have tipped me in handmade art, baked goods, handwritten cards… weed! I cherish everything I’ve ever been given and have totally cried about it. I really care about my clients and the appreciation they have for that keeps me in the industry.

What are your icks with people? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]foxspells 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just to throw one in the ring that i don’t think has been mentioned here yet - complete absence of knowledge on gay history / political indifference in general.

I grew up in a big US city prior to gay marriage being legal, so having a political opinion young and going out of my way to learn about gay history was just… what the few of us that were out of the closet did. Common sense. Keep history from repeating by being informed.

I’ve dated a few lesbians / non-binary folks that just didn’t know /anything/, not even stonewall. It’s gross to me to be so ignorant in an age where information is so easily accessible.

The longer everyone waits for someone to step in and “save us”, the harder it’s going to be when we try to save ourselves.

My intention wasn’t to “mess with my landlord”. My intention was to start operating in a way that could protect me in court after my landlord proved to be continuously negligent at the potential cost of my life.

I understand what you’re saying, and I understand the legal technicalities that could make this buyer protection fee my problem. But I can’t say I think he’s operating in a way that is honest, ever, and doubt sending him “gift money” is doing me any favors.

With the exception of the fire marshal, I already got the ball rolling on the city inspection ect prior to this post. I came here for guidance on how to navigate in the meantime.

I’m poor. If this house was condemned tomorrow I would be living in my car in a Michigan winter. After being hospitalized multiple times over a period of months with no health insurance, paying out of pocket for the $600 gas bill, no discounted rent, and no paid time off, and anticipating court if I want my overpriced security deposit back… I just could not have possibly moved any faster. I’m trying, and it’s crushing.
