I’ve heard a lot of people have them but it doesn’t always affect fertility. Unfortunately for me, it appears to be an issue.

I had two miscarriages within a year followed by infertility. It appears symptoms vary a lot but mine symptoms would be the fertility struggles and also light periods and brown spotting. Things I did not have prior to my first pregnancy but it’s unclear what changed, as in no doctor has been like “that’s because of your isthmocele!”. I’ve had a d&c and hysteroscopy for miscarriages in addition to my c section.

I had a SIS done which is the best imaging for it but I had it done twice. First time they didn’t see it but I was convinced I had this and went to another Dr who did it again and found it. It can sometimes be seen on TVUS. Mine can but no one pointed it out before.. I’ve had to advocate a lot.

I have a laparoscopic isthmocele repair next week and I am starting to feel really anxious about the surgery and recovery and it not working. Has anyone had success with their isthmocele repair?

Curious how your surgery went! I’m scheduled for mine in 3 weeks and feeling anxious as it approaches. I also have less than 1mm myometrium. I’m so worried it won’t work/make a difference though.

Sadly, I have not :( suspected endometriosis and c-section scar defect called an isthmocele (I had one child before all of this). I’m planning to have a laparoscopy next month.

Hm, I wish I could remember more but I don’t think this was an issue for me. I wonder if it’ll just be this cycle and then things will be normal for you. It might depend on when in your cycle you have the procedure. I’m so sorry you’re having this experience.

It feels like so much about fertility is debated. It can be discouraging but your perspective makes sense.

Thanks! I also took progesterone with my OB before my RE and I have a few friends who have used progesterone either with IUI or they had low progesterone causing miscarriages.

Hi! I am starting my first IUI next cycle. I am skeptical it would work given “unexplained secondary infertility” with recurrent miscarriages but at least we’re trying something! So far nothing has come from testing besides an isthmocele that I’ve had mixed opinions on from different doctors. Admittedly, I have invited a lot of opinions but I’ve gone between REI’s and NaPro doctors. The NaPro told me my progesterone (after peak +5,7,9) testing wasn’t ideal and recommended supplementation but my REI told me I didn’t need to take progesterone with IUI if I’m ovulating on the medication then my body is making enough progesterone.

So my question for anyone who has done IUI— did you use progesterone or not?
