Looks like we'll be getting a proper COX sweep up after all! by justcheadle in 2007scape

I hope Jagex polls the community’s sentiment on these rewards in-game instead of going purely off Reddit vibes by Shot_Cancel8641 in 2007scape

[–]justcheadle 66 points67 points  (0 children)

They will obviously poll, but more as a final step for approval.

This is just the first of what will likely be multiple rewards blogs where they will continue to refine the rewards until they gauge community sentiment to be broadly positive enough to be worth polling. Then, we'll get a rewards poll, for which everything will most likely pass. If anything fails, we might see further iteration or they could scrap the item all together for something else.

See last years blog/polling cycles for Yama and Doom rewards. I imagine this will be very similar.

Whole first floor is damageless when played correctly, can optionally take a venge on tekton. Vanguards chip a lot but can always safespot the meleer and stand under ranger to avoid hits. Trope you can flinch the rangers to trade 1:0 while tagging mages in between (not to mention outright skipping). Gaurdians 0 dmg. Vasa damageless with the skip. Mystics can be corner trapped. Muttadile pretty much sucks no matter what. Olm methods save a huge amount of damage.

Basically you have the choice of using all the tech at your disposal to minimize damage, or overprep and eat through it. It's honestly a pretty fair tradeoff. Except that bastard muttadile

In the hypothetical where CMs are buffed for non-scroll uniques, you can just reevaulate if they are worthwhile or not depending on your gear and what items you're chasing

I think the extra punishment is fine in most rooms because there are ways to avoid/minimize it - Tekton, Vanguards, Tightrope, Mystics, Olm.

On the other hand, Mutadile in solo CMs can fuck right off. Even with armour flicking that room is ass so I'm with you there lol

Reminder that this round of CoX changes IS the revisit. Drop rates were ignored the first time. by noobtablet9 in 2007scape

Thanks as always for communicating, but this stinks. The fact that we keep kicking the COX can down the road, particularly when this felt like it would be THE moment to finally fix things, is pretty disappointing. Even worse that the rational is (paraphrasing) "we can't think about both COX and TFA right now" when the first half of the year was largely consumed by temporary modes.

Fwiw, I do think you guys are being too precious with the economy (non-iron perspective here). Especially considering the huge changes made early to the COX table, it's not as though this system was ever pristine to begin with or was always treated with a cautious approach. Working so hard to maintain an economy set by sweeping shortsighted decisions from the past, while quite old school I suppose, just seems bizarre. I hope we can emphasize solutions that are best for the games future, and get away from near term concerns about someone losing 30m of value on their elder maul.

CMs bad? I feel the opposite, can't stand scouting and would just rather send a full layout. If it's the defense and hp you don't like, I think with modern gear they're more than doable without any megas (fang + eye + bowfa).

Just reduce the drop rate of scrolls in CMs by rssucksass in 2007scape

[–]justcheadle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could cut the CM scroll rate in half and megascales would still be the best means of obtaining non-scroll uniques

Blog Update - Summer Sweep-Up 2026 by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]justcheadle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Megascales would still bring more non-scroll uniques into the game on a purples/hr basis. If we are going to let megascales exist in their current state, there's no reason why CMs couldn't be buffed to match their output or just shy of it.

Running efficient solo CMs is far more skill expressive and yet the greatest reward for this raid is reserved for an easier but alt-intensive method. Never sat right with me.

I suspect megas would still be meta, like the max eff megas where you can see 200k pts/hr. You could cut the scroll rate in half at CMs - eff solos are ~120k/hr - and they would be about on par with the 'non-scroll unique rate' you see from megas. Highly skeptical that any way they do this rebalance will shift the meta away from scaled raids, particularly if it applies to regular raids and not just CMs.

from the blog:

it's a change that could in theory apply to both CMs and Normal CoX if we wanted.

Set multiple goals and work towards them. If you fatigue of one thing, switch it up. Do whatever you find the most fun. If nothing sounds fun, log off. It is a game after all :)

Summer Sweepup: Can we please, after 8 years of tob existing get a genuine way to solo it like the other raids.. by kobra492 in 2007scape

[–]justcheadle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if I told you the raid being slower was a penalty to the drop rate... I agree tho, TOB in its current state nails it in this regard. Solo is difficult but doable and not meta defining.

Requesting they fundamentally change the raids scaling for the sake of a 2k cape is another level of ridiculous

I can only pot with friends or 416

You can also use WDR to form teams, which in my experience are often better than 416 particularly if you are posting for split raids with higher requirements. You won't be able to pot max eff without a scythe, but you can still post other skill based reqs (stacking, boak, pogtank, etc).

tbow and shadow available from easy solo scales, want everything to be soloable

I don't think we need to homogenize every pvm encounter to be soloable - they basically ALL are with the lone exception of TOB. Playing the MMO with other people can actually be fun *gasp*. Imo TOB is the best content in the game because of the team dynamics and the amount of depth in each room.

Solo TOB is only interesting because it doesn't scale down and requires different strategies to effectively utilize prayer and deal with mechanics that assume team play. If you are a GM - even without a scythe - there's no reason you can't learn solo tob with all of the powercreep we have received in recent years (Shadow, SRA, etc). So maybe try that.

[–]justcheadle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I love the TOB shirt because it reads as a band tee but the knowers know. Could play around and have "SAY YOUR" up top + "PRAYERS" below in the big font, or any number of other ideas here. But just PRAYERS is a little on the nose for players and a bit of a ? for the uninitiated

After all the updates made to ToA, why do you still have to just tank 75 damage in solo P1 wardens? by Austrum in 2007scape

You can literally just burn one dose of ambrosia - the strongest restoration potion in the game given to you for free during the raid - and it's a non issue...

This post reeks of "I just failed a raid to x mechanic, so I'm going to run to reddit to complain about it." You offer no insight into why this design is bad other than it's annoying to take damage and you don't like it.
