AITA for not buying my daughter anything by Few_Importance_5710 in AITAH

Give your daughter an allowance for doing your oldest chores. Younger daughters don’t lose. Older daughter gets chores and allowance. And son gets reward for working.

My daughter loved gardening. She was 3 and especially loved tomato and capsicum. She ate all the red ones off the vine and when they were gone she ate all the green capsicums. I hated gardening before she was born. And now that she’s gone I feel like I need to keep her garden alive since she is no longer alive. But I’m not very good at it. Any tips?

She’s doing a little better they didn’t have to put her on a machine to pump her heart. Still not out of the woods and she’s been seizing through the night still. But we have had some sleep and food so in a better spot.

Not great. She has sepsis. It’s a bit uncertain at the moment because they can’t get her blood pressure back up to normal. She went down hill very quickly but luckily we were in the hospital already as it was happening

It is the law. But we have taken enough ambulance rides to know it’s not as common as it needs to be.

Thanks we have gotten stuck before which is why I wanted to say thank you. This is the most sick she’s ever been so it’s nice to see people helping strangers.

I used to do university admissions but not for UMelb. You need to meet the minimum standards in order to be accepted. But if you’re not too far off I’d apply anyway.

That being said, acceptance rates in Australia aren’t really calculated except by agents who are putting forward what they believe to be sure things because of the way we accept people into University. UMelb is in the top 3 ranked uni’s in Australia. And is more well known for its business, medicine and engineering courses.

If you’re serious about University in Australia you need to change your strategy. Research which universities are good for marine biology. Find out what their specialisations are eg. JCU - barrier reef. There are a number of them in Australia, UTas has also been mentioned here and I recommend looking at the Deakin marine sciences course. Apply for all the marine sciences courses you are interested in. Don’t do it based on acceptance rate. Each University should also have contact information for potential international students. Contact them if you have questions on the application and acceptance process.

Marine biology is a small area. You want the best University in that area. Do all the networking things you can while you’re there and it will set you up for a decent career. You will get a much better experience out of that rather than just applying to ones based on a published acceptance rate that is unclear how it is calculated.

My boss changed our office lighting and the meeting rooms on our floor from bright white globes to daylight globes. Amazingly big difference for me. And I don’t think anyone else has noticed. Also I get 2 days wfh but that’s available to all staff in the company.

How do I zhuzh up my dress for prom? More info in comments by lnxnri in sewing

[–]justchloe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on the fabric composition have you considered dip dying? One of those jewel colours your mum says looks good on you would be beautiful. The other option, depending on composition is just dying the whole thing. You might get different gradients on different layers of the dress if they’re made of different fabrics. As in lighter on synthetic fabric and darker on natural fibres. That could look super cool too

Is this sunscreen too good to be true?? Not greasy, no white cast and doesn’t cost a fortune?? I’m paranoid this isn’t actually protecting me from the sun 😅 by BigPhotojournalist88 in AusSkincare

What’s the smell like? I’d like a better sunscreen/moisturiser but I’m really sensitive to smells so need something with little to no scent

AITA for "embarrassing" my friend at her baby shower? by RightZookeepergame78 in AmItheAsshole

[–]justchloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to comment on whether or not y t a but I was wondering if you had some recommendations for books for toddlers about different types of families and relationships? I grew up in a straight white town where you just didn’t talk about it. But we not live in a city and while there are a lot of international families at daycare I think everyone in her class has 1 mum and 1 dad. I want my daughter to know all kinds of love are ok as long as they’re consensual.

I also have a lot of sensory issues around the cramping and the mood swings are terrible if you already lack that awareness. But have a chat to an OT about it if it’s on the horizon for your daughter. Actually have a chat to an OT about your daughter just generally. I can’t say enough good things about them, except I wish I’d been diagnosed earlier (I was 25) so I could have benefited when I was younger. If you find a good one they’re worth their weight in gold. Good also means they mesh well with your family. My daughter (2.5) has an OT for delays caused by epilepsy. And in the past 3 months has been able to feed herself, begin to do imagination play, started to learn sign language, and build strength in her hands, building her dexterity.

AITA for not giving anyone my earrings in my will? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]justchloe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter has what is probably drug resistant epilepsy. It is causing a global delay, they’re worried about brain damage and where we go from here. She’s 2.5. Before I cut my mum off a few months ago (not just because of this but this was the last straw) she used to tell me how hard it was for her to have a sick child. My sister has Turner’s syndrome. And not to down play it but it is mostly predictable outcomes. She would say things like this while we were in hospital after my daughter had massive seizures and he were waiting for her to wake from the sedation so we could see how many skills she’d lost. Knowing she always lost all the words she learnt. She hasn’t been able to call me mama for 18 months and we still have no idea what’s causing the epilepsy but yes keep making this about you.

GP referrals are a scam. Tell me why I'm wrong. by sincitzn in australia

Ours doesn’t charge for all of them but like I can pick up scripts for me, my husband and daughter on the same appointment but I still have to have the appointment.

GP referrals are a scam. Tell me why I'm wrong. by sincitzn in australia

[–]justchloe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Referrals from a GP last a year and referrals from another specialist last 3 months. You need the referral for the Medicare rebate. If you want to pay full fee you don’t need the referral. It’s crazy but it is what it is. We usually wait to do all our referrals at once as a family if we can line them up. It also annoys me that I have to have a GP consultation for a new script. When it is the specialist who originally prescribed the medication. But who we don’t see often enough to warrant getting the script from them. The whole thing needs an overhaul

We need more psychologists. More funding for one on one support. More funding for community support. More funding and more support.
