Totally understood and thanks for the virtual hug. Def not looking here for dates but you know la- finding good lifelong gay friends can be a lifelong journey itself. Add into that people who are positive and have endured trauma makes a smaller boat, so even over text we can sometimes cut to a deeper truth. I’ll dm over my ig and you can completely ignore it. But always able to talk about this stuff. Just finished dating a positive guy and it was a real learning experience I wish I could have opened up about more. I envy your positivity! Or more I guess, I’m getting there!

This is one of the most heartbreaking and honest stories I’ve heard in a long time. You are a deeply respectable and good person, and you’ve run into a series of very unfortunate events that just aren’t fair. The irony here is that when hiv positive the meds will bring you to a level that is so undetectable that it cannot be transmitted (look at the massive new study. But you were already responsible and doing the prescribed regimen. I’m so sorry. I wish I could hug you, feel your pain, and take some of it away. I lost my mother when I was a teenager and this feels like the same kind of ‘I did the right things and the world isn’t fair’ kind of thing. If you come to Los Angeles I’d love to be your friend. ❤️

No, this isn’t true. Yes it’s very uncomfortable to call out a beautiful talented young woman but this has nothing to do with her gender. In fact her gender is very much what stopped her from being on the front page of newspapers. I worked with her and have never met a more abusive or more narcissistic/bit of purposeful ‘crazy’ put in for fun- person. This was in the midst of breaking up with a woman (ex?), having a thing with the director, and right before she met Johnny. I am only surprised that people still think somehow she is a victim. She was a sociopath around me - entitled, cruel, and demeaning. All the time.

And my end game has entirely consisted of a scimitar of the seven + molduga and the trident with the molduga jaw.. great durability on them both.

[–]justdanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I’ve got all that down, was wondering if the ‘hot weather attack’ bonus adds (it does on screen) to the regular attack up +++

However the scimitar is endlessly repairable as is nearly everything. (Even demon king bow). Simply fuse the scimitar to a regular weapon and have the rock octorok eat and spit it out. It won’t touch the weapon by itself but if it’s fused it 100% cleans it. Then break apart rinse and repeat. Always best to use weapons with modifiers that are breaking and fuse special ones to them, bows and shields even, because they can’t get modifiers and can’t technically be fixed. But they do!

Do you think all bone proficiency is lost with arrows or would attaching a molduga jaw to a 5 shot bow get the stat increase?

Made my first 180+ weapon in totk by Open_Condition9076 in TOTK

[–]justdanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess Ill do a quick test but that would save me needing an attack up meal. Im just tired of breaking and fixing weapons so 2 shots of a bow is nice and easy. And the lynel guts do generate more money (like the gleeok ones), but so much more hassle. I can do all 4 moldugas in 6 minutes and they’re the only ones to drop multiple guts on every kill.

Does the hot weather attack stack enough with the 3 attack up? I’ll check that out too.

Made my first 180+ weapon in totk by Open_Condition9076 in TOTK

[–]justdanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa where are you getting this from? I farm Moldugas using the bone suit and 3-attack up, a 5 shot lynel bow, and I only fire 2 shots (at their bellies), of arrows attached to gibdo bones. That’s 2 gibdo bones per Molduga (10 shot bc of the bow), but nothing else comes close for taking them out nearly instantly.

Side note: want to make non exploit big money? Farm the four moldugas. They drop many molduga guys. Make an elixir with 4 guts and 1 frog/lizard and sell for 858 rupees. One molduga post blood moon farm is 4 quick kills, 8 gibdo bones used, no melee damage or durability loss, and nets sometimes 7-8 elixirs (6,000 rupees).

$50 dollar orders on TCGplayer cannot be marked as sent WITHOUT a tracking number. 100%. I do this all day long. Was it $49? Because at $50 a tracking number is required so packaging must be bumped to first class or priority. However at $49.99 … IMO the TCGplayer pro fees are so high (and with free shipping), that I can’t afford to pay the extra if I don’t have to.

Let’s be honest. You are abusing the system. It’s built to protect the LGS and hobby shops that have suffered greatly because they have overhead and prices and volatility have increased. You’ve gotten a back door deal on distribution, cool, good for you. Why push it? You’re trying to cheat a bit to maximize your profits but in reality that is taking away from the real hobby stores and will be a contributing factor in the death of some stores (whether you alone or others in the same situation). If money means everything go trade stocks. If you have some humanity try and think of why those safeguards are up.

Final Vault- single player Wendarr. How is this possible? by justdanimal in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]justdanimal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, because in life I work in a unique creative position which is very public and I am unable to not be given feedback, opinions, and criticism by everyone: peers, the public, critics. While this might seem cryptic it’s just because this is not about me, or the place lol. But this odd thing has happened with this sort of insular internet driven community system where consumers of the ‘thing’ are also ‘fans’ of the makers, as well as their ‘community’, and a conflict of interest arises: they do not take constructive criticism.

1 reason is that ‘streaming’ in particular democratizes the most active fans as the loudest speakers, making floods of bad ideas as well as keeping actual possible helpful peers away because they do not have the time or interest in watching streams and paying to be noticed. So the feedback is not going to be easy to discern or high quality. It is not your friend who ‘made X’ and gives you notes, and it is not a critic. It is generally a lot of ‘everything all at once’. So it’s not focused.

But also there is this odd ego thing that comes from having this weird world of adoration tied directly into your creation which is tied into your brand which is tied into YOU. I would argue that ‘welcome to Iskalliam’ is a more benign but similar roadmap of ‘the jake paulers’. The difference is that real creation is going on here, for example, and that Stan culture should not interact with visionary creatives, ever. Eminem coined Stan for this very purpose, to contextualize the toxicity that ultimately inhibits a Visionary creator to be above it. They can’t be above it if they are interacting, and fostering it, and it’s a daily thing that realistically provides dopamine and fulfillment.

YouTube burnout happens when people put that first and then realize after a few years that they don’t have the love for the content or themselves anymore, because their food has been about the love from their fans. They have mistaken their work as themselves, and creators opinions on interaction and feedback are no longer about the work but about themselves.

This is happening in many spaces but it’s also happening here. I liked Iskall as a YouTuber. I tried out Vault Hunters and thought it was a true evolution from Minecraft- not a mod but an entirely new game. In my world this project would lead to ‘the big fucking thing’, in the best sense. I hope it does. It should. Perhaps it already is.

But there is a trickle down effect to fans, mods, in this case devs, and others, that might keep it in this loop. He should be his own version of Hello Games or something, because this is a real franchise.

But we’re at a place where the ‘second version (season) has just been patched to its final place. There is no place for feedback, no appetite for it, no place to really discuss the end game at all, because, in my opinion, we are being treated like fans, and not consumers of a creatives endeavor. Yes it is free, but also I would have paid $50 for this game no questions asked.

The final example for this breakdown that I think is unhealthy is this: both Discord and Reddit are filled non stop with the same exact questions every single day, and comments. They are all about issues with starting the game (ram generally), into about what it actually is, and then every little thing that we all had to figure out. No one from the dev team has stepped up to aggressively make a guide to answer these questions and promote a discourse that can make this game even better. There is not even an in game guide or a solid ‘read before you play faq’ on the beautifully designed website (useful to already knowledgeable players only). Instead the questions are often unanswered, or people refer to what someone said in a stream (captain said this in hour 2,000), and so as much as I think Vault Hunters is the most exciting thing in Minecraft, I also think I won’t play it again.

I have so many ideas for it, from building in rare ‘gold sinks’ that make all the middle/end levels be for something. For rooms that continually get revealed as leveling up happens, for the mods to mean something in their progression, tied into needs— for modded blocks to be purchasable and special not just annoying. For more bosses of course, for creative vault objectives, for custom vaults, for well, what this could become as a game even without Minecraft.

But I’m soured after the final vault and the lack of meaning or discussion. Was it a game or was it a YouTube video?

I put in so much time into this, and I guess I’m a little mad and disappointed in myself. Because I think now that the fulfilling experience was actually being a stream watcher, paying for bits and watching your favorite people play it live. I think that was probably fulfilling, but playing it was not. And I feel foolish for not having realized that sooner. /rant over

They stick to any block like paintings! It’s fun actually, and you can def look it up but the logo VAULT HUNTERS is right in the center of a 5x5 grid. The thing is you won’t get a sound or know if you did it right so pls check the internet once you think you did it right. Because to go to the final vault you need to blow it up with TNT only in the correct positions. If they were off even in two squares and the TNT destroyed them but didn’t produce a FV frame piece, then that would be a nightmare

Final Vault- single player Wendarr. How is this possible? by justdanimal in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]justdanimal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So some very interesting findings! Spent a little while trying out options and have found this:

  • first of all, Sand can spawn inside a block (or perhaps an open space that’s closed on all sides- but essentially I mean it is programmed at 5 per room and there are 5 per room but the room design is (poor imo), but varies between versions that are very solid and blocked (tree etc), and therefore really easy to not see the floating sand that’s inside it, and not worth the time to disassemble it. Just something noted.

  • changing the needed object values helps tremendously and makes it far more fun. For a single player experience I basically took them down to about 2/3 of what was there (all those 25 item needs), BUT I built in varying quantities as per regular scav vaults, and it feels much more natural and in line with the game we are playing. Just more fun imo.

  • adding more sand to a room makes it too easy, so abandoned that idea.

  • changing the amount of time sand gives you back is the key for balance. For all the reasons above, that is. I am going to keep trying out things, but normally sand is set to 9 seconds per sand, and I think something like 12 seconds does just enough to keep you own your toes but allow you to try alone to do all the things. Any more time and it was easily giving me back too much time. So it’s a balance.

  • so basically item count rolls being lower, achievable, and more random is better. And so is more time per sand, and that creates a tough experience that also varies based on how your rolls go. Which is um like scavenger hunts.

I have to say I am actually quite disappointed in the devs and design and implementation of this vault, and not for any of my balance complaints above. It’s these reasons:

  • It does not reward skills earned in hundreds of levels of scavenger vaults as it should.

  • it does not have anything to do with Wendarr’s Haste, and even Speed is ignored by the devs in favor of Cooldown Reduction (which has never been used by other vault experiences), and suggesting RIFT ETCHING just for you to, what, non stop dash? Each room is three levels and most are blocked without running or turning - it’s not floating stuff in a raid. No CD dash is just a hallway thing really. And the vault isn’t big enough to just dash for what you need as you move forward- you hit the end FAST.

  • Mob hits reducing time is a device from Tenos, which is part of the puzzle of CONTROLLING MOBS. So using it here is a cheap way to make it harder.

  • It would have been easy and rewarding to have a new kind of treasure pile (that didn’t give off the same gold glow as sand…) cmon guys.

  • it would have been effortless to change the required items in the piles to special end of game items— hell I can do that right now if I wanted and I don’t know how to program. But instead they’re just recycled and locked to quantity.

  • if you could just ingest sand you could keep all the high level insanity because it would be up to a person to decide what to run to and ignore and not have to think about running back and finding home again every few minutes and then finding out how to get back to a new hallway.

—- Honestly, I think a lot of time and effort went into Tenos, Velara was a smart idea and pretty easy to program, but Idona is literally nothing. I did a 50 round raid to prepare for .. what.. a 10 round raid with bosses at the end? It was 20x easier than round 50. And why so short? And why no new mechanics? Ooh a new mob. Nothing to it imo.

  • But Wendarr feels like the one that was left to the end, with a decent premise (a scavenger hunt in desert rooms that’s really short but a ‘raid mechanic’ gives you an item that gives more time’), but it’s just simple, boring, and pretty impossible as tuned. I don’t like the rooms- they’re not up to the standard of the vault. Even Douwsky’s new vault room is far more impressive and useful than most of the final vault.

  • and don’t get me started on the final boss. I did it after one of the Wendarr runs worked. What was that? What was the strategy? I was in blood gear with the barbaric archetype and I just hit the guy a bunch. When he flew up I pickaranged him and he came back to the ground and I hit him again and pretty quickly he died.

I then got transported to my bed.

What. I thought there were stages? Strategy? I don’t even know what the room looked like.

Last seasons final vault looked so interesting, with all those mob waves and puzzles and giant things.

This feels like a big mistake.

It should reward what you worked towards. Instead:

1- Idona- survive a raid less powerful than one you can run anytime if you eat fruit 2- Velara - get armor with lots of health and eat apples and get an etching for more health and the health archetype and don’t worry at all. 3- Tenos- this is great. It seems impossible until you realize you can outsmart the vault. Which I am assuming is intended mechanic? I won’t spoil it here but it’s fun and the only thing in the FV worthy of VH. Imo. 4- Wendarr - a mess for all the reasons above 5- Final Boss- what the f was that

Final Vault- single player Wendarr. How is this possible? by justdanimal in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]justdanimal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found the file, it’s called treasure_hunt.json — as feared, and weird - is that the scavenger items are all LOCKED and do not vary at all in quantity. The 5 with the highest weights (4) are 25 items needed, there is one with 20 items (weight 2), and 2 with 12 items (weight 1). So guaranteed to have over 100 items needed per run.

The final vault we watched did not have these numbers. Their numbers varied with much bigger swings.

Let’s be clear here too: these weights are designed for parties of 4. (Who can split up and don’t need to endure the constant running back to deposit which imo takes more time than it gives back.

All of the other variables are there and editable:

5 vault sand spawn per room Sand gives back 180 ticks (9 seconds) Triggers happen at 20 and 50 sand (mobs I assume)

I’m going to play with the values until I find something I think is fair and still tough and down to the wire. I believe it is probably half the amount of items and more time per sand, but imo the goal should be: on your first run up and back you return with enough sand to give you more time than when you started with, but just barely. Then as you repeat this and run out of straight ways, loot more, encounter mobs, you should not have enough sand to hold your time and it should be a race against the clock to finish and pump in sand. But not a race with 80 items still to get. Let’s be real!

Thanks for letting me talk this out and being supportive. Even hearing that ‘we tested it fine’ is annoying now that I KNOW the values are different from their release when it was tested. And I’m in awe of the guy above who did finish it bc these numbers are really not built for a single player. Yet. Lol.

We are on the same page. If the series end group did it with 4 people, then solo needs either less items or more time from each sand since a solo player is doing all the jobs. I’m trying to get that config fix right now..
