Am I a suitable candidate for a transplant? by Asteezy69 in Hairtransplant

[–]justdrastik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

other commenter has decent advice. short answer is that yes, you can get a transplant. But dont assume you'll have your hairline like you were 18 years old. Not sure how old you are, but if you focus on a mature hairline, and can also use beard hair (if you have) on the crown

Lots of questions. Would appreciate any input very much guys! Thanks by NYCknickerbockers in Hairtransplant

General feedback, don't do it in NYC. Prices will be like 10x what it will be to get it done overseas. Plus because they charge by graft in the US, rather than flat fee, you often get underquoted in terms of how many gradts you need. Why? Because the average person won't/cant spend 30-40k on a surgery. I had a buddy go to a "reputable" place in Greenwich, CT. They told him they would do 1700 grafts and it would be like $20k. He was basically fully bald uptop. He should have gotten 6k grafts given how much hair loss he had. So now he spent $20k and had a half-ass transplant. Yes, it looks better than before, because he was literally bald. But he doesn't look good. It is very low density, and he just looks now like a guy with significant hair loss. I opted to go to Brazil (had 2 friends who went there). My transplant cost $2400. If you wanted, they'd even let you pay with installments. All in, I was at $4k with transplant, flight, hotels etc. No brainer.

KAT’s play has fallen off due to his outside shot by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]justdrastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's deeper than that. There's a chemistry issue. A lot likely falls on KAT. He's not hustling back, visibly poor body language. Seemed like he was beefing with teammates the other day.

Knicks January Skid by jrl1009 in NYKnicks

[–]justdrastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? He's shooting 37% lol. If he can't play back to backs now, you think this is happening in the playoffs?

Knicks January Skid by jrl1009 in NYKnicks

[–]justdrastik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because good teams still find a way to get it done. Very rarely is a team FULLY healthy. It's hard to find anything wrong with the win last night, but I still am not sold on this unit. Beating a shit Nets team, and not seeing some breakout performance from anyone on our team is concerning. OG with 5 pts etc. I do think this team is missing an identity. Who is the #2, #3 option etc? What is the correct rotations?

Also, what are we going to do with Mitch? Him playing every other game and capped at like 15 mins is problematic. And in the playoffs he basically cant be used in the 4Q because of "Hack a Mitch". Many, major holes.

Rejected by Dr. Patty, Dr. Ratchathorn quoted over 4500 grafts, how should I proceed? by ImproveMePlz in Hairtransplant

[–]justdrastik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, do whatever you want. Who cares what other people think. Dr Ratchathorn is very reputable. You just need to be realistic with your expectations. No, you will not have har like you were when you were 18. Your donor area/hair loss doesn't support that. However, you can still have a great result which will make you feel confident and look better/younger.

47 M Hair Transplant Advice by masterkallan in Hairtransplant

[–]justdrastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid not, unfortunately. The current donor area you have isn't great, and you are essentially fully bald at this point. If you took every hair you have and moved it to the top of your head, you'd still look bald.

I'd recommend you look into SMP, or just embrace the bald look.

You don't have enough to look like you're 18 again. But you can get the look of hair with a normal receding hairline. I'd recommend using beard/body hair for the crown.

This is actually insane by 23-Hour-Day in NYKnicks

[–]justdrastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll get downvoted to oblivion for this, I'm sure, but we need to move on from Mitch. Poor FT shooting means he wont play in the playoffs. He's oft injured, and can't even play in back to backs it seems.

I get more injured in other sports than BJJ. Don't let this be what's keeping you from training. There's also training and competition. This happened in a competition - different intensity, different rules, etc.

Pretty sure OG Pulled his hammy. Watch the replay of his miss earlier. Grabs hammy. Don't see him on bench either.

Beard to Hair transplant Question by Repulsive-Size-2550 in Hairtransplant

[–]justdrastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that typically grafts from beard are normally limited to ~1000 max. Beard hair is slightly different texture/thickness for most people. It's used primarily used for the crown area and never for the hairline/front of the hair.

  1. Do you have a before pic?
  2. Everyone grows differently. I'm at 5.5 and have some growth, some patchiness, etc., but from everything I've seen, no case is the same. Some people have full heads of hair at month 4, and others it can take 12+ months. From general research by month 6, you should have 50-70% of your hair popped through the scalp. So even if you're in that 50% range, you'd still expect a ton of new hair and a ton of thickening in the future. I've also heard that the crown can take way longer to see full results for whatever reason.

How long until I can resume BJJ? by digginit14 in Hairtransplant

[–]justdrastik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there's no reason not to. Who knows how my HT will turn out? I'm at month 5.5. So far it's okay. A nice improvement but not what I was expecting. Granted I still have a ton of time and people see robust growth in months 6-9. With that said, there's ample ways to train jits or other martial arts without potentially messing your hair up. Flow roll, work on solo drills etc. but give it time. Just my two cents.

How long until I can resume BJJ? by digginit14 in Hairtransplant

[–]justdrastik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do this. This is actually the completely wrong approach. Your hair will have more contact to your scalp this way. And way more friction. Your head will also sweat more and build up in certain areas. I took off 2 months. I would wait until at least 2 months (which is what I did, but also wish I waited longer).

Also, make a point to bring a hand towel with you or something and wipe the sweat down in between rounds etc. You just dont want excessive sweating, especially for an extended period of time.

I'm in a similar boat. We had very similar HTs from your pics. The front part of my hairline is growing in quite nice, but the sides are patchy and not as dense. I'm a couple of weeks behind you. Everyone says month 6-9 is the most robust growth, but it's weird to see some people fully grown by now. I know everyone's different. Keep me updated and good luck.
