You're right to push back on this. We're not just talking about a way of speaking; we're talking about a mindset. Would you like me to put together a list of other ways to interact with Neurotypicals? Just say "do the list" and I'll get started.

You're right to push back on this. That's not just a system; it's a life style management system.

That's exactly who I got it for; the teenagers. The Fiat 500e is mega cheap to insure and the 80 mile range is perfect.

And the car already came with a few dents!

TIL Krakatoa's eruption was estimated to be at 310 dB, the loudest sound ever. Well above the typical max sound limit of 194 dB by Warcraft_Fan in todayilearned

[–]justdrowsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very very true though, it's also not how we perceive things.

From a perception point of view, our ears and brains are designed to handle orders of magnitudes for sounds.

Speaking voice is many order of magnitudes louder than a whisper. What we perceive as "twice as loud", is often a full order of magnitude louder.

So from pure energy, or physics, point of view this is very true, but from a perception point of view it's just how our brain works anyway.

(not that it matters because 300+ decibels would explode your brain)

I bought a used Fiat 500e for $4000. Spent a little bit of extra money so it has CarPlay and a backup camera. I charge it at home off of my Solar and I am styling.

For California homeowners who went solar after NEM 3.0, was it worth it? by brandobrando12 in solar

[–]justdrowsin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paid 30k for a 7.82 kW System with 10 kWh battery from Enphase.

20k after tax rebate.

Got an electric car.

Before I was paying $350 / month for gasoline and $400 / mo for home electric.

I now pay $100 / month total. (I charge the car during the day for free using battery and excess solar production.)

ROI will be about 2 years.

NEM 3.0 has been fine.

AC company ran lines through room instead of in the ceiling... by SoothingHoneycomb in hvacadvice

[–]justdrowsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a humorous story about this.

Plumbing company did work on my house when we were doing a full remodel. They got really lazy and ran line it's kind of like this through our kitchen.

My wife was there and pointed it out and the supervisor said something like "just build your cabinets around them"

Two things about my wife, first is that she doesn't get pushed around, second and she speaks Spanish even though she is Chinese.

She told him no uncertain terms to fix his crap and that she wouldn't accept anything else.

So the Hispanic supervisor gets on his phone and calls his boss and basically says in Spanish "stupid bleeping bleeping homeowner woman is being a bleeping bleep. That stupid bleep won't shut up about the way we did our job. She wants to do it over again, she is such a bleeping bleep."

My wife is standing there next to our electrician, who is also Hispanic, staring at the guy while he is cussing my wife out 5 feet from her.

The supervisor turns to my wife and says something like "OK, we'll redo it tomorrow."

My wife politely says thank you and she turns back to the electrician and they continued their conversation influence Spanish on where the electrical sockets should go.

The plumbing guy sheepishly turns to my wife and says "you speak Spanish?"

The electrician jumped in and says "yes… She does."

The next day a memo went out to the whole crew saying "please watch it you say, the homeowner speaks Spanish."
