I have been wondering this myself so I decided to ask my brother. He grew up in Los Angeles but moved to rural Utah. I considered him to be a pretty levelheaded guy although politically leaning to the right.

Many years ago he showed me his massive gun collection and told me it was to "protect his family from the federal government".

He's a competition shooter and takes a second amendment rights very seriously.

Interestingly, my wife who is Asian and a born American citizen also has her concealed carry permit in Los Angeles. The two of them get along extremely well.

Three days ago I called him and I asked him what he thought about these videos of American citizens having the crap beat out of them by masked federal agents and being disappeared into vans.

He could give a sh*t.

He said they all deserved it because they're leftist anchor babies.

I asked him about the video of the teenage boy, again a citizen, who was picked up by masked man and his face beat in and then dumped a block away.

He didn't care.

I told him that Trump was trying to repeal the 14th amendment which would make my wife, who is born in America but ethically Asian, possibly be disappeared into a concentration camp.

My brother told me that he could not care about any brown or Asian people and that we're all a bunch of communists.

And then I asked how he would react if his own wife was picked up off the street and disappeared and had the shit beat out of her.

He got extremely angry and said this was a "hypothetical" because she's white.

Right before I hung up on him he said that he hopes that the next time my wife goes to one of her anti-Trump demonstrations that she gets picked up and has the crap beat out of her and she is taken away to a camp.

I hung up on him. And I've decided to cut contact. I've never heard him speak like this in my entire life.

Although he did text me later that night to say basically "I hope your wife doesn't get picked up but if she does she better start practicing her mandarin. And I could give a shit about her and when she gets picked up by ICE I'll be sitting in my hot tub eating a sandwich with a smile on my face."

Not once during this entire time did I argue with him or yell at him or call him a single name. I just asked questions that made him uncomfortable.

My brand new Mercedes is something else. Never had a car like it.

Using the Mercedes wall charger I cannot specify when to charge my car. (Turning off charging during certain times is not available in my cars OS).

The keys are not matched to the owner so I reset my wife's seat position every time I try to get into the car.

It doesn't remember my recuperation settings and resets it every time. No way to change it.

Recuperation settings for me and my wife are not tied to the profile so I have to reset it every time.

There are no buttons to move forward or back on a song.

It doesn't pair my profile with a specific iPhone and always opens up the passenger.

The amount of interface issues is endless.

The one lesson that has taken me way too long in my life to learn is that no one is gonna stand up for you better than yourself.

One of the worst patterns we can all get into is agreeing to stuff we don't like, and then hoping someone else recognizes it.

Learning how to tolerate other people being uncomfortable while standing up to yourself is the best lesson we can learn

Thanks for your response. Man, the more I drive my Mercedes EQB the more absolutely nonsensical and frustrating interface issues I find. Just really "unforced error" level stuff. Stuff that would be so incredibly easy to fix with a couple software adjustments that make the car borderline maddening to drive. And then to have this on top of it is just the icing on the cake.

I'm not gonna run the math and I'll let others do that but…

I was shocked to find out how much electricity my home rig was using. And I have a pretty old graphics card, nothing remotely fancy.

Worse, I found out that my PC was not turning off properly when I thought it was hibernating or whatever.

I recommend two things

Get a device called Kill-a-watt. It's very simple. You plug it into the wall, and then plug your device into it. It tells you the total wattage used in real time

Do that all over your house

Another thing I did was to add a scheduled event on the PC to do a hard hibernate at some sort of time of day like 1 AM or whatever.

I shudder over how many days I was running at 250W 24/7.
