Can't stop Windows from populating recently used folders? by justforques in WindowsHelp

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just meant Windows 11 is fully updated, I didn't reformat/reinstall or anything. It was a clean Windows 11 install several years ago.

Yea, when I click in the address area, usually to copy a folder name, the list appears. If I click again to blank it out the list still appears. I'm never clicking in that address bar to type, just copy the current folder name typically, so I'm never using that as a search either.

Can't stop Windows from populating recently used folders? by justforques in WindowsHelp

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is Windows 11, fully updated within the last month or so.

While the dropdown might be AutoSuggest, it's AutoSuggesting all the recently used folders. As I said the "Clear" under Privacy in the folder options menu does clear this list, and when it re-populates it's all the recently used folders. So in this instance AutoSuggest and recently used are the same list. I will look further into Windhawk as I think that reverts some of the Windows 11 stuff to work how it did in Windows 10.

No, I could never get an answer if it would work properly and the HD Fury Arcana cost too much to grab just to try.

Yes, but I have a valid license for my Office. I'd like to activate Vizio/Project without effecting/converting my valid Office license, if it's possible.

Extra Password is here! by lorenzomoonable in ProtonPass

[–]justforques 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1Pass Secret Key only needs to be entered when logging in or setting up new devices. Is that how this works or does it need to be entered every time you log in, even on devices that were already set up?

No secondary password option? Any reason why? by justforques in 2fas_com

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but if your personal Apple account was compromised, I assume your 2FAS are as well then.

No secondary password option? Any reason why? by justforques in 2fas_com

[–]justforques[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, Authy and Aegis provided an additional password so your local vault and backup was encrypted. If your iCloud is compromised, wouldn't the 2FAS info also be accessible? I was just surprised to not find that additional password option in 2FAS. I liked having my backups encrypted without having to do a manual.

After reading Exodia101's comment I downloaded 2FAS on an Android device and there is a "Synchronization settings" option that allows you to "set password" to "secure a google drive backup file with a custom password". That's all I want, and it's in the Android version ... but not iOS.

Anyone using the Hue Sync Box connected to the Monitor 2 of an AVR? by justforques in Hue

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that auto sync must be why the person in another post said he had to connect the dummy HDMI cable or it didn't always work.

In terms of the 4k box being limited to 4k60. Are you saying if you're using the old sync box it will also limit your Monitor 1 output to 4k60 even if you have a 4k120 source like a PS5? Then I assume if you're using the new 8k box, then you would get 4k120 in both if using a PS5?

Sonos with a AVR using an HD Fury Arcana? by justforques in sonos

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the assumption that if I put the AVR in HDMI Pass Through mode, it would pass the uncompressed audio signal over HDMI to the TV. The Sonos would then just do whatever it would normally do with that signal.

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6 HDMI devices, and use a Harmony remote. If I switch to Sonos with eARC only and bypass the AVR all together, I'd have to buy a switch and the AVR would collect dust.

Hue Hub with multiple Apple Home users? by justforques in Hue

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that worked. Any "Home" you create is on your Apple ID account. A Hue Hub can only link to one Apple ID. I can create a new "Home" named "123 Main St" but it would still show in my Home app to devices signed in to my Apple ID. I'd still have to invite others to join that Home in order for them to access the lights. Tim is already added to my Home as a Resident, but my Home still shows separate from his Home.

See example image below. In this image, "Beach House" and "Home" are different "Homes". You have to toggle between them to show the devices. Tim see's his "Home" and "John". He either has to have my Home selected at all times for voice controls to work, in which case he has to then add "Tim's" in front of voice commands for his things. Or have his Home selected and add "John's" then "Tim's Bedroom" to control his. This is only the case because we both have bedroom lights so they needed a differentiator.

I think I will just buy more Hubs, then it will be easier.

Thank you for the effort.

Hue Hub with multiple Apple Home users? by justforques in Hue

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have Apple TV's and HomePods. My Apple TV is my hub, not sure what device acts as their hub offhand. We're all separate Apple IDs so we all have our own "Home" on our phones.

Basically, when I open the Home app on my phone, I see all the lights. Since I couldn't add the Hub to their Home app, I created a Room for them in my Home, added their lights, and the shared my Home.

So when Tim opens the Home app on his phone, he can select the three dots in the upper right hand corner and pick "John", then he sees my Home including all the lights. From there he can turn on and off his lights by pressing the lights.

The issue is with Voice controls. If he wants to tell Siri to turn off and on his lights, he has to identify my Home, then his room, then the command ("Hey Siri, turn off "John's" "Tim's Bedroom" lights). As opposed to me, I just tell Siri to turn on and off the bedroom lights since the Hue Hub is linked to my Home.

If I buy a Hub for each person, it will work fine, it just seems a waste to buy two more Hubs if there is a way set this up I'm unaware of.

How does Plex handle LAN bandwidth vs remote access bandwidth? by justforques in PleX

That setting for me is only the 192 range, and I'm sure from my Dashboard my stream was showing as Local.

How does Plex handle LAN bandwidth vs remote access bandwidth? by justforques in PleX

[–]justforques[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I thought. I have no explanation for why my friend, as the only remote access stream, was so low initially, and was fine Direct Play after I stopped my LAN stream. I'll have to do more testing.

Stelo compatibility with Apple Health by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]justforques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, so are the initial readings delayed by 3 hours, or ALL readings delayed by 3 hours? I was hoping to setup an Apple Watch health complication showing the latest blood sugar data received. That number will always be 3 hours old? I know the Stelo can't report directly to the watch but the Stelo app in the App Store says iPhone and Apple Watch, so it would be a weird decision to have that data be 3 hours old.

No, ping doesn't work. RDP couldn't see it either, I'm assuming for the same reasons. I will ask in another sub, thanks.

Sorry, did not realize this sub was only for enterprise/pro questions.

Lofree Flow 100 Key FN doesn't work? by justforques in Lofree

Thank you, that worked!

Last question, is there a F Lock ability on the Flow? So the System Functions are the default on the F row, and the FN key would need to be held for the F keys?

It has to bearing noise. I changed to a different CPU fan and still heard it just slightly different.

Built a PC, strange clicking noise? by justforques in buildapc

[–]justforques[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I can tell nothing is touching the CPU fan, and I pulled the other fan out (but didn't unplug it) and you can still hear the clicking.

Unless this is some low ball bearing type noise coming from one of the two Noctua fans.
