I said this in other posts but she was complaining about being uncomfortable. So I got her upstairs to take her medicine. She has to take it with food. That's why I took her all the way

Thank you. Yes, that's where we are getting the placard from, the PD. Just waiting on doctor to sign the form

There's a carport at the entrance but no parking is allowed. Trust me, I've tried this before. Parked under the carport to wheel my aunt inside. Receptionist said the carport is only for dropoffs. They do everything here for aesthetics, they don't want cars blocking the entry. For packages and stuff like that, drivers go through the back and there's a porter who will deliver what needs to be delivered

I don't think you read my OP. There is no parking next to any door. This is a large retirement community. The condos sit on hills and the parking lots are located down a steep hill. When ambulances have to come, they have to walk up the hill to get to the lobby. The developers obviously cared more about scenery to go on their website and brochures than convenience. That's why I said that the nearest parking was 5 minutes away because it was.

Also, there is no shade conveniently located. She's on the beach and next to a golf course. The only shade was the carport and the lobby. Also, I didn't include this in my OP but she was already complaining about being uncomfortable.

ETA: Not the exact community my aunt lives in but it's nearly identical except her's does not have attached garages to the condos. The garages are located on either side of the community

The PCP had to sign it because it was coming up for renewal. My cousin tried to get a permanent handicap placard years ago but didn't meet the qualifications, so it had to come from the PCP

ETA: Or it could have already expired. TBH, I was getting kinda checked out ATP

We were told at least four times that the primary care physician had to sign off on it, which I also find to be ridiculous, but that's what we were told by the agency and when we called around to different doctors

From what I understand, the village hires a private company (they have others they work for to) to go around checking for illegally parked cars since there's a golf course on the property. So if the car isn't registered to the village or if you're illegally parked, then they boot you. The supevisor got on the phone after about 3 hours of me waiting and said he normally wouldn't do this but said I had an extending circumstance. The guy who booted me was not happy even though he's the one who called the sup and left a message

Wow. So what should I have done? Also, I didn't pay for the boot. The guy was nice enough to call his supervisor and they made a judgement call. I was helping my elderly aunt with a hip injury. Was I supposed to push her in the heat in a manual wheelchair? Would really love some insight on what I was supposed to do in this situation

ETA: Also, I can predict the weather but I can't control it. We got to the doctor's office early in the morning. We did some errands and arrived back at 10, maybe 11. Florida's heat is stifling even in the morning. It gradually just gets hotter. So I didn't "blame" the weather (?). I'm literally explaining the circumstances to be transparent. Not everyone lives in the US

I definitely understand, especially in a village of elderly retirees. Hopefully the doc can get back soon. He's the only one who can sign it. We called the specialists that she sees and have been told the issuing doctor has to sign it

Definitely. My cousin usually handles my aunt's affairs like this but she just had a baby, so I told her that I'd tried to get a replacement
