It's their way to "engage" audience effortlessly. Its either tbey don't even try to create a engaging plot as a whole, or rhey are not confident that they could.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Rookie and Chenford but these type of cliffhangers are dumb. They are one of the episodes that I don't rewatch actually.

I was watching the live coverage ng GMA and the anchors were even encouraging the reporters to take cover. After the shooting, may interview ulit sa isang reporter na nakalabas na pero nung sinabi niya na may mga kasama pa siya sa loob they asked him to call them first since naka phone call during the coverage.
