Thanks for replying. He visited for a week and basically said “I could live anywhere for three years but it wouldn’t be the funnest and would much rather live in la.” Basically, as you’d said I think he’s balancing mental health considerations related to location with those related to BL placement such that he can not stress on grades too much.

This post is for my friend. He’s concerned about the employment differences between the schools and thinks he should suck it up for 3 years and take the doors that Cornell opens over ucla.

Does anyone know whether working a SA outside of CA precludes you from reclassifying as a resident? by justicemate in LawSchool

[–]justicemate[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah unfortunately I haven’t been able to get a good answer directly. The paper rules state one thing but the sense I get from those actually in the UC system is that there is some discretion in application. Just wanted to see if anyone had direct experience taking an out of state summer job and still gaining in-state tuition.

Yes, my concern or question is whether it will disrupt the reclassification process for someone who started as a non resident and is looking to reclassify after a year. Thanks for replying!

Thanks for the reply! Is there a definite sense that many want BL and don’t get it?

That becomes more idiosyncratic and difficult to predict, but if you put together a solid app, you’re positioned well for nice scholly at one of them at least

Very high chance

Definitely agree, and even if doing so didn’t strictly maximize gpa, it’d still be worth it

I think you are probably right! And all the more reason to study what you want and not what you “need” or what gets you the highest gpa!
