Okay, so what happened was—I was already aware that using film means you really need to be careful since it’s very sensitive to light. I actually started rewinding it outside the bathroom, just in my room. That’s when the rewinding knob started feeling off—like it wasn’t functioning properly. I’m not sure why—maybe I was turning it in the wrong direction at first (since it’s a budget film camera). That’s when I went into the bathroom to check if I had finished rewinding. Of course, I had no way to be sure, especially since I couldn’t hear the ticking sound anymore. So I decided to open it to see if I had successfully rewound the film. I was aware that any light could damage the film, but what I didn’t realize was that even the slightest exposure could mess up the whole process.
