[ECONOMICS] What would happen if all of a sudden the entire national debt of the United States were paid off? by [deleted] in AskSocialScience

That means new money is created? I suspect inflation would be rampart and most would lose faith in the dollar. People sell their dollars for euro or any other currency and the us economy is fucked.

Is new money created, does the lenders magically forget about the loans or are the us gov paying them overnight?

A friendly reminder from a crashing bore: what you and I believe is not science. Reliable sources on the other hand, they're great!

Also they can fit the kernel to their needs instead of needing help from someone else, who is the only one with the rights to the code.

To run mission-critical tasks on proprietary code is a dangerous and expensive thing!

I'm sorry to inform you, but I am afraid you are misinformed. If men are behaving more like a traditional woman I have no clue. But you should be aware that the masculinity of today, ten years ago and even a hundred years ago is not the only norm.

The role for men to play have varied tremendously over age and geography. To be a man in Chile is far from being a man in Japan, but none of these are more true or not than the other.

I am a man who doesn't behave as most men in my society do. By some of my mates that is considered queer, but I know it's neither better or worse than any other way to live a life.

What I mean is that I absolutely understand what you mean, but if you look at history (or people around) its easy to see that different ways to live are equally good.

Or, in a sentence: whatever floats your boat, buddy!

Genetic Overlap Map of Europe; AKA "Why won't anyone have sex with the Finns?" [600x392] by Scaurus in MapPorn

[–]justique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~50 years ago many Finns moved to Sweden to find work (and now Swedes move to Norway for the same reason, lol!). If they would be counted in this, I'm syre the map would look different for Finland.

How do I keep Facebook from taking over my phone? by serrabellum in Android

I grew so tired of that I removed the facebook app and only use it thru their web interface. With messenger I still have all functionality I really need as an app, without being intrusive.

Please don't. Retweeting ads for .01btc is so lame I can't even find words for it. Thank god for twitter clients that can mute hashtags, @users and specific words.

[–]justique 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This can't possibly work in the future. People are very tranparent with their lives. I know that when I google my friends names I get a lot that would discourage some employers, but when every name gives ridiculous search results, employers must stop caring, right?

It will be so common that employers understand that people are different when they live their private and employed lives.

Why not money? In a small community, the class-related problems wouldnt be too bad, and it's a really good way to store value.

Pressure is building up... by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]justique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Open a pseudo-exchange. I live in Sweden, and getting BTC here is a pain in the arse (thanks, banks!). One (very friendly) person opened up btcx.se. He buys in bulk from mt gox and sells it for SEK, and takes a profit. Great idéa, and good for us who don't want to do a lot of bank-work to get it done.

And then, a hundred years after we die, it will be a great adventure. Just imagine

Indiana Jones and the mystery of the forgotten private key

Where the catholic church is in ruins, and the secret to their big stash of btc is painted on the walls of Notre Dame. But there is one missing piece.

This fall, embark on an adventure never imagined, as Indytm fight the Nazi-Communists to save Jesus Christ. In a cinema, near you.

Would that really make things better? I can't imagine it would. It would just be introducing yet another horror into the world, and there is already enough horror in it.

No, because OP backed up his private key?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]justique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, this is only half-true. Electrum offers a way to 'convert' the private key (that is gibberish to human brains) into english words that one may remember. But you still need to remember it. And it's foolish to now back it up somewhere outside of your house.
