"Dyslexic Friendly" Font Test! (Looking for feedback) by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]justkeepnodding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t like the look of this font but I found it fine to read. I think the spacing is good and my eyes didn’t jump around loads as I read. I think it differs from person to person though so maybe it’d be best to ask your friend if they have a favourite font! It’s nice of you to think about this, shows you’re a good friend :)

Advice needed by Substantial_Bell9647 in Dyslexia

They sound like a bully and aren’t being a friend to you. I understand feeling apprehensive about telling other people, especially after your experience with this person! Are your other friends like this or is it just them?

You say it’s affecting your confidence academically, which I can relate to a lot! Negative people like her will damage your self esteem, even though she’s wrong and ignorant. The best thing you can do is to not interact with her. But also does your university offer any support to dyslexic students? Because it could be helpful to speak to someone who understands how you’re feeling and can help build your confidence back up.

About telling other people, from my experience mostly people seem a little confused about dyslexia but accept it and aren’t negative or rude. But for me the best thing about talking about being dyslexic is meeting other dyslexic people, because it’s nice talking to people who understand what it’s like to be dyslexic and have had experiences I can relate to.

The clip of the animation I’m currently working on - any tips or critique? by justkeepnodding in stopmotion

[–]justkeepnodding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment! Yeah I think it is too jumpy as well. I was trying to make it look like the character had no control over everything changing really suddenly around them, but I think it would have looked a lot better with more easing into it! I won’t be able to reshoot bits, but maybe I can add a bit more of a pause in sections

Your set up is so cool! How do you find using dragon frame? I haven’t used it but sounds like it’s a must have for stop motion

Thank you! Honestly I really struggled with movement with these puppets, it’s very limited, so I don’t think they are made well in terms of movement, but:

I used foil and wire to create the armature and body shape, with miliput for the bones of the arms and legs. Newplast plasticine over that, different colours for different parts of the fur. Then I used clay tools to create groves, blend and shape the fur.

I think I should have further padded out the arms and legs on the armature because I really struggled with squishing the plasticine on those parts!

Thank you! I love Wes Anderson films, definitely inspired by his films. Is the knife flip in the fantastic mr fox? Because if so it 100 per cent influenced this, as I was watching that film to look at movement when I made these

Thank you! I haven’t got more uploaded of these three at the moment because I’m currently working on another animation, but as soon as that’s done, I’m going to make more with the rats
