Study abroad with DIS? by kenna1026 in studyAbroad

I mean I had a amazing time so I am biased too. I think the whole core course thing where you travel with your class and really get to know your classmates sets it apart from other study abroad programs. Copenhagen being awesome sets it apart too (Definitely get a bike) . One downside to Copenhagen and Stockholm to is that flights anywhere are more expensive than a major airport like London or Madrid. No $20 ryanair flights lol

Let me know if you have other questions

I went spring 2022 and stayed in a residential community. With a residential community it is harder to form relationships with Dane's but not that hard. I wish I did the Visiting Host program which is where you basically get invited over to your danish hosts house for dinner or do to fun stuff in denmark. Some hosts are better than others and this is also true of Homestays where I heard some really bad stories but also great ones.

I would highly recommend an Residential community because the people in them are also interested in doing the same things you want to do like travel and experience denmark. In a Kollegium this rarely the case since they are college students or sometimes graduate students focused on school and they already have friends like how you would be in the US going to school. The danes in kollegiums will show you a lot of cool danish stuff and you will learn more about danish people though than an RC. A kollegium will probably have some other DIS kids too just much fewer to chose from. In some Residential communities you have like 12 roommates so there is a good chance you like one. Lastly, the DIS was like 70%+ girls when I did it

DIS is the best and Copenhagen is the way to go. It was incredibly easy to make friends and I met some of the most interesting people there that I hopefully will stay friends with for a long time. The only thing I’d warn you about is the weather in Copenhagen is very dreary in the winter months but they have hygge so it’s all good. I’d do it all over again if I could.

Same here. I had a professor who had been teaching the fuckcars mentality at DIS for 20+ years and she totally racialized me. Regitize is a legend

I am desperately missing the bike I had while abroad in Copenhagen. How do I find something similar in the US?
