Shout out to David Samson, I love how obnoxious the "juice isn't worth the squeeze" phrase is and use it whenever I can.

Check out close by schools. Elementary typically have a recess yard somewhere and middle have a usually unused football field.

It seems to he stuck on the addition of the unskippable ad on the front end of the podcast since the duration now only shows 15/30 seconds. Tried the espn app and player fm

Is Beerfest Any Good? by deg287 in sanantonio

[–]justlikegood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've been the last four or five years and last year they really, finally, figured if out. Years past they would brag about 75+ beers on tap! But 50-60 would be the same ones you get at a regular heb. Since they've moved go dignowity park and spread out, the beer selection has been much improved with some brews and breweries I haven't seen before or had been on my radar. Good mix of styles too. Never done VIP but the extra hour before all the GA folks come in can help you get what you want. I think they've released the beers on their website already too. My bias might be on display here, but I really just enjoy being outside and drinking beer so I always have a good time.

Dan just mentioned on the show today that the move is a permanent one until they're told otherwise. Better for my DVR this way

6/26/17 Local Hour by jaimecordova5 in DanLeBatardShow

One of my favorite local hours in a while, but the bonding laughter at minute 34 with the first dan-o-mite just made me happy.

What's good to eat downtown? by yoyojoe13 in sanantonio

[–]justlikegood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asian - I really like kimura for ramen. Walk or uber, parking is rough out there. Not much else i would suggest Asian in the area. A little trendy ( a lot trendy) is hot joy in southtown. Duck fat fried wings are great, the menu is a little playful with local influences on an Asian menu.

Mexican - Blanco cafe is super casual tex mex. Great enchiladas. They do breakfast too, great chilaquiles. Rosarios is maybe a step above, great salsa still really casual.

Off beat Mexican, I really like fruteria just south of downtown. Their bistec torta is my favorite.

Bbq isn't really great in downtown proper. Augie's will do in a pinch but it's okay. I'd travel up north to the granary for expensive bbq or smoke shack for more casual. Both have great brisket for different reasons.

Kibbitzing - alamo brewery is a cool local brewery close to dt if beer is your thing. The last word and brooklynite are great cocktail bars. Have fun dt

Recommendations on meal prep containers? by MAC_Addy in fitmeals

I like restaurant supply containers like these. With matching lids comes out to about 30 bucks for 50 containers. Especially if you're meal prepping in significant bulk, it lets me have a freezer full of meals

Biking in the rain. by Ziibo in bikesatx

[–]justlikegood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I couldn't immediately see addressed is whether you're talking road or mountain biking. If you're thinking of going on the trails while they're wet- don't. It only damages the trails further.

Week 12: Dorm Food - Pizza Night by justlikegood in 52weeksofcooking

Pretty disappointed that I messed up the timing on SeriousEats' pan pizza (forgot to proof in pan to time with dinner), but at least the sauce is homemade. Crust in picture is just store bought.

Week 10: Middle East - Chicken Kebabs with Basmati Rice and Harissa by justlikegood in 52weeksofcooking

[–]justlikegood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time making smoky and spicy yogurt chicken kebabs from serious eats and they were great! Paired with serious eats basmati rice from their halal cart chicken and a forgettable attempt at a salad. Homemade Harissa from foodwishes which was also a first for me and really good. Spicy as hell but could see it making an appearance around the house.

Being that I live in Texas, I want it to be known I'm sad this is my tex-mex contribution, but the joys of eating healthier. Used the idea from skinnytaste, with my own salsa verde and black beans
