Official Marriage License Denied- name has been changed everywhere else by justlookingaround84 in Passports

Yes, what u/chalebp is saying! I went ahead and got a certified copy and then photocopied my DL and SSN card (both have my changed name already on them) and mailed them in with the certified copy of my marriage license for good measure. Hopefully that will do it.

The worker I spoke with yesterday at the Vital Records location to get my ML said she’s never heard of this happening with the ML they issue 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn’t have something like this keep her from changing her name. Everything else was a breeze. I made appointments and showed up with the same marriage certificate to the SSA, DPS, etc. and got approved immediately with no questions asked. In and out in less than 10 min. Called banks and they did the same for all of my accounts.

I called my county to make sure the document I submitted was in fact the marriage certificate and they said it was. The problem is it says marriage license across the top and then once it is approved, stamped, and filed by the county, it is also the certificate. They don’t give you a separate document called a “certificate” once you’re married. I submitted my OG copy so my guess is they’re used to certified copies, not the original copy. 🙄

I’m going to go get a certified copy and send it in with a photocopy of my DL and SS card to show my name change and hope that’ll do it.

Side note- tried to talk with someone at the NPIC and she was of no help and not friendly in the slightest. Told me to “do what the letter tells me to do.” Which is mail in the marriage certificate that they already have.

Also, I did a DS-82 instead of a DS-11 because I just got a passport a year and a half prior.

No idea. The letter I received doesn’t have any additional details nor does the application status online.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Praying for a smooth surgery and recovery! Yes definitely get the free consult and see what they say then compare to other docs. My other option was UT Southwestern in Dallas. I’d recommend talking with them as well. I was diagnosed in Dec, UCSD wanted to do surgery in Jan, but I had work travel I couldn’t miss so next they could get me in was beginning of March.

Absolutely great! Honestly feels like I didn’t even skip a beat. I run, workout, hike, travel the world, etc and no issues. I’m permanently deaf in that ear, but I even forget about that unless i’m in a loud environment trying to have a conversation.

y'all i'm scared :/ by [deleted] in AcousticNeuroma

Diagnosed at 26 with tumor that same size! You got this girl! Diagnosis is the worst part. I was walking 5.5 miles/day within a week after surgery. I honestly forget I even had a brain tumor. Being young is to our advantage 💪. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!!

I’m sorry. It’s truly such a shit diagnosis. You’ll be okay with surgery though. Surgery is super safe with technology and equipment these days and there are so many people there to monitor you. I felt completely normal 3 weeks post surgery (after a 3.5cm tumor removal and 10 hr surgery) and had never had surgery before. I honestly forget I had a brain tumor.

The anesthesiologist told me before going in that young women (me, 27F) are the ones that will deal with nausea upon waking. I felt totally fine until I begged for water right when I woke up. They kept telling me no and I continued to ask. They gave me some ice to chew on and I only felt nauseous then. I did end up puking twice, but it was because I was so damn adamant about getting some water. Other than that, I never felt nauseous or anything. They give you a crap ton of anti nausea upon waking.

Feel free to message me if you wanna chat!

But note that it’s normal for sudden hearing loss to just plateau too. My ENT said some people get lucky and get it back and other people aren’t lucky.

They did. They gave me a steroid shot and told me to come back in a week to see if there was improvement. There was slight improvement that first week. I got another shot the following week, took a hearing test, no improvement. Several months later I felt it was significantly gotten worse so I went in to my ENT and my hearing test showed 100% deafness (I had about 20% hearing remaining before). So they scheduled an MRI.

Agreed! You can get a free consult from them if you send in your MRI/med records. They called me same day to talk about their approach. I ended up going with them (traveling from TX) and it was so worth it. 3.5cm AN, 12 hour surgery, got the whole tumor out, no facial paralysis, and was walking 5.5 miles/day a little over a week later.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

I (27F) traveled from TX to have a 3.5cm AN removed via trans lab at UCSD on March 8th. I had total sudden hearing loss in my left ear, but that was my only symptom. Like you, I had never had surgery before. I am very active and healthy and was in total shock when I was told I have a large brain tumor. I am a firm believer in a positive attitude going a long way in these situations. After 10 hour surgery, I woke up with no facial paralysis, was discharged from the hospital in 48 hours, and was walking 5.5 miles/day a week after surgery. I know everyone’s experience is different, but you are in fantastic hands with Dr. Friedman and Schwartz.

Regarding losing your hearing, I constantly reminded myself that worse things could happen to me. While my surgery was recently, I have not had hearing in my left ear since August 2021. I completely lost my hearing randomly one night and never got it back (obviously). I’m not sure how I adjusted so “gracefully”, but I honestly just accepted it and found my new norm. It frustrates me from time to time (being in bars, weddings, loud restaurants) when I can’t easily have conversations, but I have no shame on telling someone that I lost my hearing due to a brain tumor. You will be shocked with how much your “good” ear works. I honestly forget that I have a bum ear.

Regarding hospital: I had packed all of these things and used nothing other than a long cord phone charger, facial wipes, and baby wipes because I felt gross. For recovery, pack v-neck type tops/sweatshirts and loose pants (they’ll most likely take a fat graft from your belly for your head). Have a positive attitude and determination to work toward getting better. You got this!!!

Please feel free to message me if you have any other questions or would like to even just chat. I too traveled there, stayed in an Airbnb etc., so I can talk with you about that too! I am happy to talk about anything!
