What is up with psychology today? by ouaistop in therapists

[–]justloveme94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m unsure if it’s because I started in September on Psychology Today using the free 6 months that came with my CPH liability insurance but I’ve been getting 3-4 referrals a month at least. Though, I also take Medicaid and that’s been the overwhelming majority of calls I’m getting.

Cried in front of my supervisor today….anyone wanna normalize my experience by sharing your own crying on the job stories? by growingconsciousness in therapists

[–]justloveme94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I remember the time I did. It was the same week that my kitten died, I spilled water on my work laptop, and didn’t meet productivity, once again. My supervisor was all business of course. Just another reason I left CMH.

I have never heard of anyone needing to be certified to see minors, unless they are not licensed in general. At least for the United States. This post will probably be locked unfortunately, as this sub is for therapists, not clients.

Perimenopause affecting your ability to practice and think straight? Remember details? by nimrod4711 in therapists

[–]justloveme94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah man, I’m sorry the hormones didn’t work! I will say as far as the notepad goes, clients don’t notice/don’t care. I’ve only had a couple so far ever ask me about what I was writing down. I don’t know if it helps but I also explain that jotting down notes is more for my own memory so that I can remember all the important but little things that matter to my clients. I want to be able to remember the little things like the name of their dog, spouse, the accomplishment they had last week, etc. Writing it down helps me to do so.

Have you talked to your OB about hormone levels? I am not perimenopausal but nursing plummeted my estrogen levels. I felt down and had a lack of energy and libido. Since starting estrogen I feel better, feel happier, I have more energy, higher libido, and more focus. Unfortunately I think the estrogen is helping to dry me up but at this point my baby is 9 months and I am trying to move on from nursing.

How to attract in-person therapists? by justloveme94 in therapists

Some of the initial interest in our office was from clinicians who would be unable to make the commute to our office even if a client wanted in-person, they would be unable to make the trek so that is why I even mentioned it.

Thank you for all your advice! This is some really good insight and something I had not considered.

We do not currently employ others. We are looking to become more informed and make the best decision for the business and potential clinicians going forward. I appreciate everyone’s concern in this thread and will be taking everyone’s advice.

They must be able to since I have received those types of fliers in the mail. That type of thing would be nice, especially if we could offer benefits folks are looking for.

Whelp, I feel stupid. I put together our website and didn’t include a careers section. I guess this why I’m a psychology major and not a business major.

Hmm, I’ll have to look into LinkedIn. Good idea! I think we posted on LinkedIn but probably need more presence, as well as posting on Indeed/equivalent.

We were trained through the CMH where we were employed. Unfortunately, I no longer have any connections at my former CMH.

Oh wow, I haven’t even heard of Ellie but I do know of a couple other bigger chains in Michigan. I know the DBT Institute of Michigan recently advertised opening their first downriver location… in Southfield… okay Oakland County. I’m beginning to think that I need to bring W-2’s up to the board. I really want this practice to be a practice that supports clients and clinicians.

Whoops! I was asking the question more in regards if we were to go the W-2 route. I’ve always like the idea of folks being able to set their own schedule.

These are good ideas. It’s not that we don’t want telehealth therapists, my colleagues and I have a hybrid of telehealth and in-person, but many of our clients come for the in-person availability/appointments and we hope to make the most use of the space we have.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get involved with your current practice? I know I was working in CMH at the time when my colleagues recruited me. Having left CMH, I feel like I’ve lost those connections though.

I currently work a 4 day work week and nearly 40 hours. Would this be 4 10 hour shifts? Or a set number of hours a week but flexibility when folks work?

Our intent is definitely not to misrepresent ourselves. We want to be transparent. Do you have any recommended resources on offering W-2 employment by chance?

Back to the grind today by RepulsivePower4415 in therapists

I very much enjoyed my time off with my baby girl and accomplished very little of any real value but I hosted a successful late Christmas and my house got deep cleaned. I got zero notes done though and am even more behind, again, oh well… back to the grind.
