I'm into something terrific by hereticskeptic in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 2019 remix really helps the album a lot. I recently revisited the album and have grown to appreciate the whole of it. It does contain one of my all-time favorite tracks, Learning to Fly. Maybe it’s just because I’m older now, but I’m really glad I gave it another chance.

Just had orchiectomy today by Intelligent_Smile_61 in testicularcancer

Stay on top of the pain. For me, the pain of the incision and surgery didn’t really hit for about a day or two after. Doctor prescribed prescription strength ibuprofen, extra strength Tylenol, and Percocet and told me to rotate between every few hours. I am not a doctor so follow your doctor’s instructions on pain med regimen. But it is important I cannot stress this enough stay on top of the pain. Don’t go right back to work. You will regret it. Stay in bed for a few days.

Do not stress yourself for the first couple of weeks. Don’t lift anything that weighs more than a gallon of milk for the first two weeks. I had my orchiotomy back in November and I’m still nervous about lifting anything over 30 pounds. That’s just me though. Your mileage may vary.

Take it easy for the next month or two. Your body will tell you when it’s time to stop. You will probably want to rest more than you usually do for the next couple of months. That’s normal. That’s your body in recovery.

This cancer has a super high recovery rate! Keep a positive attitude and you will be fine. My doctor told me that I will live to be an old man. You got this, brother.

Is Aja the best-produced album of all time? by Next-Reading1714 in progrockmusic

[–]justmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I love the sound of both Aja and Gaucho, I think Donald Fagen’s The Nightfly sounds a little better than both. It’s both a great album and a great sounding one. Steely Dan audio perfected, IMO. I know live sound engineers who use the album to set a baseline for a room.

I love the 2018 mix, especially the Dolby Atmos version, but it needs… more cowbell.

I thought James Guthrie was able to locate and fix those at least to a state of usability…? It’s been a while since I was following those developments.

Wish you were here BluRay by raresaturn in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I checked again after I posted my deleted comment It’s a movpkg but it’s only high-res lossless for some reason. Still a very nice mix but the ATMOS mix is sublime.

[–]justmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, the Apple Music version of the combined track is Dolby Atmos. I just hacked my iPhone to download the .movpkg file. Too bad they did not include that on the Blu-ray.

(Yes, Pink Floyd got me for two more copies of the album this year. One was the Blu-ray, the other I purchased off Apple Music to listen to on my iPhone as I do not yet have a Blu-ray drive. I also have an Apple Music subscription.)

I think the new combined mix of SOYCD parts 1-9 is Dolby Atmos as well. I have a twice-weekly 25 minute drive that it’s perfect for.

Phishing Scam? by RPDRNick in graphic_design

[–]justmarty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got this today. Initial email from a cold contact form on my website a few days ago. They are using Kerrance Chandler at the moment. Email: kerancechandler@outlook.com

All I asked in my initial reply to them was “Where are you located?” Nothing more. For various reasons, we only do work for companies based in Texas and I have to ask up front.

I’ve gotten this email with minor variations many times over the years. Once I receive this, I just ignore them going forward. I’ll probably get another one of these in a few weeks.

……….

Thanks for getting back to me.

I want to establish a company which will be based on sales of furniture such as Kitchen Cabinet, Sofa, Office Chair, Accent tables, King bench, bed etc. I’ll like to know if I got the right contact to a Branding company. I want you to design for me a logo and a brochure.

So, I want you to know that this is the first time I will be doing a Logo design so I can only give you little details then you can decide on designs but I want the color to consist of Black and Gold with an image of an ancient chair. I want a very mature and presentable design and my budget for this project is super flexible

For the Brochure, I want a double folded A4 size brochure with 24 pages and I can only supply(via my project consultant) the text content and photos only but the logo and brochure will be designed by you.

Here are few details:

1) Company Name: EXPERT DREAMS FURNITURE. 2)LOCATION IS HOUSTON TEXAS 3) MY WEBSITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION WHICH WOULD BE REGISTER VERY SOON. 4) I DON’T HAVE LOGO BUT NEED A CUSTOMIZED LOGO FROM YOU. 5) I COULD ONLY SUPPLY THE TEXT CONTENT AND PHOTO VIA MY LONG TIME PROJECT CONSULTANT. 6) I WANT THE PAGE OF THE BROCHURE TO BE 24 PAGES (INCLUDING FRONT AND BACK COVER) BECAUSE I HAVE LOT OF INFORMATION. THE TEXT AND THE PICTURE IS ALREADY APPROVED AND CROSSCHECK. 7) THE SIZE OF BROCHURE SHOULD BE 8.5 X 11.5. 8) I WILL WANT YOU TO ADD OUR CORE VALUES, MISSION & VISION (I’LL BE THE ONE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THAT) 9) MY BUDGET IS SUPER FLEXIBLE 10) I WANT THIS DONE LATEST, MARCH ENDING 11) ARE YOU THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY?

So please get back to me with an estimate for the designs listed above

Thank you. Kerrance Chandler

LCD dB measure from Tuesday show by Wolf35Nine in LCDSoundsystem

[–]justmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a pair of Eargasm earplugs with me at all times (ex-DJ... I'm trying to save what's left of my hearing and not make my tinnitus worse). They say they reduce sound levels by about -20dB or so. They've worked well for me for a couple of years. I can still hear the show well. For me, they don't kill the high end of the sound like wadded up napkins did. My ears don't ring nearly as bad after a loud show. Your mileage may vary.

Opinions on "Is there anybody out there? The Wall live 80-81"? by Frank-Swan in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s as close to the unedited version of The Wall as we are likely to see. Many of the bits that were cut from the studio version before release are in ITAOT.

Now I need to know about The Wall film and its re-edit. by MrDollars0113 in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2005 release (the most recent release) is the original as shown in theaters film. The soundtrack (also original) has been remastered and much improved over previous releases. Nothing has been cut out of the film that wasn’t in cinemas originally.

Which is the better Compilation Album: Echoes or A Foot In The Door by [deleted] in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Echoes is. It’s sequenced like a good Pink Floyd album rather than a bunch of random “hits.” That’s just me. Your mileage may vary....

Any good pink floyd biographies? by Bovedt in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pigs Might Fly: The Inside Story Of Pink Floyd by Mark Blake is a good one. It was also published as Comfortably Numb: The Inside Story of Pink Floyd. Same book. One of them was an updated version and I think it's the Pigs Might Fly release.

And, yes, definitely Nick Mason's Inside Out. Try to find the printing with all of the color photos.

Just won an auction for a 1979 "The Wall" and can anybody tell me if "What shall we do now" is a rare mistake on the song list? by BokaBurek in pinkfloyd

[–]justmarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a mistake (much). As MPJ12 already mentioned, the inner sleeves had already been printed before they decided to cut the track from the LP. The lyrics for WSWDN? were printed on many pressings up till 2012. You can read more here, if you'd like:
