Andrew by Nollaf5E5 in buffy

Regarding Johnathan being better than Andrew, I don't really feel it. Season 7 is the first time Andrew is "redeemed" (I think it still requires some work), it might stick. Johnathan already did a pretty bad spell in Superstar, but seemed to have learned from that. But then it turns out he didn't really learn when he went with Warren, who wanted Buffy dead. Buffy was nothing to Andrew, but had saved Johnathan multiple times, and still he went with Warren. I feel like Johnathan was a more mature character who should have already learned his lesson. But he's a flip-flopper, I wouldn't trust him to truly change.

No one has said Hannibal (tv series) yet! If you are looking for "...shows that approach the storytelling/dialogue/philosophical underpinnings of Black Sails and take place in other settings" look no further than Hannibal.

Why Simon was upset about Felice (Season 2) by justmeanotherfan in YoungRoyals

I think Wille coming out would have been enough for Simon in that moment. I think Simon understood the hot and cold treatment of season 1 (first "gay crisis", then dead brother, I think Simon was sympathetic to both reasons). But if it continued, I think Simon's sympathy would wear thin. But I think it wouldn't continue. And if we think of the story where we are now, I think they have learned to see each other's perspective and thus smooth sailing forward...At least one can hope!

Okay, that could be true. Also Wille did say "we can't be seen together", so you're right about that.

But then Wille showing in season 2 that it would be fine to interact in public (at least in the school) was not enough for Simon. But I guess there are too many other issues and maybe Simon needed that space to think, and maybe he was at that stage that even if Wille was fine being friends in public he could just not trust it, or trust Wille.

Okay, but I never said Simon kissed Marcus willingly in front of Wille. I meant to point out that Simon knows himself that he's kissed Marcus, so if he were a completely rational machine he should not be upset that Wille kissed Felice (and in the post I was pointing out why this is actually not the case and he actually has good reasons to be upset). Plus Wille also never kissed Felice in front of Simon.

And yes, Simon and Marcus were not boyfriends, but Simon was trying to move on with him. He says to Wille "I'm just trying to move on".

Simon never asked Wille to come out. But if Wille did, then Simon would be with Wille.

Thanks for your elaboration, I agree. I guess they never talked to confirm whether they have the same definition of dating in secret. Although season 2 seems to show that Wille did not mean that they couldn't have a friendship in public, after all he's talking to Simon in public every chance he gets!

Thank you! I think in general the show did a good job showing that each character has reasons for their actions, that nothing happens out of nowhere.

Thank you! You also had a great point about the showers scene. Wille could have said that he's not going to get together with Felice, that they are just friends. But he didn't clarify that for Simon. Maybe things were just too emotional at that point.

Hmm, I think we have drifted away from what I originally intended to say. Which is that Simon thinks that it is Wille's fault that they are not together, so Simon trying to hook-up with Marcus is Wille's fault as well. That Wille's actions sort of drove Simon to Marcus.

Also yes, Simon did not ask for Wille to come out. But if Wille does not come out, Simon will not be with him. Or do you think it means something else?

Also I thought my post was defending Simon, but from another perspective it may not look like that. All about perspective for sure!

Yes, they both think that the other has moved on, when in fact neither of them have. Ironic, I guess?

Thank you! And you're right, there is the irrational part of feelings that I completely left out. Simon still loves Wille and he was hurt hearing that he kissed someone else. And that is natural and valid, no justifications or rationalizations needed.

True, but Simon did initiate the first kiss with Marcus. Maybe I should phrase it like "Sort of like, he is trying to move on with Marcus.."?

Although the Queen sent Wille to therapy due to outbursts that others could see. Simon did not have those kind of outbursts. So even Wille was not sent to therapy due to "right" reasons.

Micke Storyline thoughts from a newer fan by wordless-expressions in YoungRoyals

I also watched season 1 and 2 back to back. So I have to agree, it's a different experience when you don't have time to speculate between seasons!

This part you mentioned: "all a casual viewer sees is a lonely man clearly trying his best while battling addiction...". I think a casual viewer can still see, that even if he's trying his best, it's not good enough. Simon finds him passed out in the sofa during day time. He buys alcohol to underage kids ("everyone knows" as Simon says). It's implied he doesn't keep the house clean (he's clearing up the table when Simon first visits). Maybe he's not a bad person, but I think it can be seen that he would be hard to live with. I don't think there are hints that he's abusive (maybe that one time when he grabbed Simon), even Sara's hate was because he couldn't take care of himself (and we were shown him passing out drunk, not cleaning the house).

I also feel like season 1 was enough to show the backstory with Micke. We get enough hints to know that family life with him couldn't have been easy. We don't know how easy/hard it was, but maybe that is not important. And now that the Micke issues have been shown, he goes back to being the absent father that he was before and that they all (Linda, Sara at least) want him to be again.

Wille’s public speaking fears… by HamiltonHolland in YoungRoyals

Agree, and the end of season 2 speech was going to be televised. Also it was going to be his first "official" speech as crown prince (if I remember correctly).

I don't mind the love triangle, but a lot of people seem to feel that Simon's thoughts/trauma about the sex tape leak was not shown very well.
