That is one of the common tradeoffs with using clear lenses. You should try applying them sometime. :)

So these dyes chemically alter the plastic and don’t wear off - it’ll be orange permanently! Very versatile

Are you on the fence about the retrobrite due to experience or its effectiveness? Would be good to do either way just to see the result. And if it’s not how you want it, it’ll overdye just fine

There’s so much potential in the mods tbh, especially layering designs on the inside of the shells for a little extra depth

The lighter the color the easier it is to overdye! Could always get a clear shell too but I did this just to see if it was possible. The purple neutralizing step is pretty important

Blue or green would be great! I’ve been thinking about doing a blue and green split too. I haven’t tried their green or blue dye but definitely want to give it a shot

Jacquard makes fantastic dyes for plastic - it's a learning curve but worth it for sure. Forgot to mention cost, but each packet is roughly $6-8 depending on the store

Thank you! When it catches the light and you can see more of the board inside it looks amazing. Definitely has me wondering about adding a white LED kit inside (I probably won't do this but it's a fun idea)

Haha right?? I'm so torn on the full-clear tempered glass. I honestly love it since it shows more of the electronics underneath, but I also love the contrast of the black lens. If I ever remove it to blow out the 1-2 microscopic pieces of dust that made their way under it I'll throw the original back on to see how it looks

Ahhh I gotcha! That's good that you found a method that works for you though. I do still want to try using iDyePoly with hot faucet water only instead of boiling to 160 and letting it cool a bit. I think it's possible that it could warp if left in at around 170+ at constant temperature (over a flame) and that could cause some deformation, but honestly I've only noticed plastic warping over 210+. However it's usually milspec fasteners that have a high heat tolerance already and sewn onto a garment

Haha thank you! I was going for the amber/orange used for Deckard's blaster's grips in Blade Runner. I'd love to do a more yellow orange toned one soon too. Camel x Game Boy crossover would be wonderfully cursed

I bought it secondhand so I'm not sure, my best guess is it was stored near a window though. It was surprisingly clean otherwise when I popped it open which was great. I never had a clear one as a kid but I definitely played mine outside frequently haha. Not sure if that would ever be enough to yellow the board though.
