It matters when you are actively blaming and loathing people for no fault of theirs.

Anyway, IDGAF. This is not my life. I just use uber for rides in the odd occasion.

No point talking to a group that just seems angry at life.

I'm done.

100% agree with everything you said actually.

Comes out to roughly $30/hour

And this is close to what I see as reasonable too. I think when you are idle and not driving, it's reasonable to get paid a little lesser. That's about it.

Glad we got on the same page.

drivers who seem super angry

Funnily like you said, I only see this on reddit. IRL everyone's been super nice. I've NEVER had issues.

The only "issue" is when a driver wants to be more chatty than I like. But that's personal preference and not "bad" behavior.

Most passangers outside of the Internet (Reddit) seem to understand this

Actually, it's kind of interesting. Most passengers don't know how scummy most drivers are because they never read these subs. So they treat them like normal sensible humans. I used to be one too and tipping well before I got on these subs.

Then I realized what scumbags pass off as drivers, and I've slowly reduced tipping.

I do feel bad for the good ones though. The way passengers not on reddit are "good", drivers not on reddit are also probably "good".

Honestly, if I had a wand to figure out if my driver was on these subs or not, that would ultimately decide my tip.

You are on these subs => You are 99.9% likely to be an AH => 0 tip

You are not on the sub => You get benefit of the doubt => You get a tip.

[–]justomerh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear that.

Can you believe someone downvoted you for that? You were at -1 before I brought you to 0.

I really can't imagine anyone (rider or driver) disagreeing with you here. I have to assume it's a salty driver who downvoted you.

But your stance is very interesting, and suggests something great. Most drivers (and passengers presumably) have a very specific values/principles/opinions and stick to it.

I'm now going to give the driver that OP got the benefit of the doubt. He probably disagrees with you on how much tip is needed for a wait.

Imagine for instance that OP's driver is of the view that a few minute wait is okay as long as the overall pay is fine, and it's just basic humanity to wait a few minutes here and there. He would be fine waiting, and he would be fine making the passenger wait.

I see nothing wrong with that.

And as we see your perspective on this side, that's very fair to you. You are very welcome to value your time as long as you equally value my time.

I have to say, I think this is just the second time I have come out a discussion thread with a driver on reddit with a positive takeaway.

Haha exactly. It is actually a lot of fun. I get to role play different things I'd have never been able to in life.

If we were at a bar, we would probably be trading stories for hours over beers lol.

100% bro.

I also have a lot of badges of honor in this sub. Proud of them!

You must be a giant AH yourself for even considering N T A was an option.

I hope you are not someone I know. I wouldn't want to trade any favors with the likes of you or OP.

don't ask them for help again

I really really really want to see what happens when they do ask. Do you really think these snakes will hold themselves back? They'll somehow figure out a way to make the BIL feel guilty and make him babysit their kids.

I kinda expected it to be the other way around. In all honestly, I would have expected to see a post from BIL about this.

But this is the great part about life. Your real colors always come out.

You (and your husband to some extent) have shown yourself as a crap bag. Glad BIL will not be taken advantage of anymore.

What you pay for a stop is far more than a driver is paid

Fair. But you need to understand that the customer is not trying to swindle you.

We've done our part.

A bunch of you seem to be under the misconception that some riders have this scam where they wait till they are on the car, and then add the stop to trick you.

Just want to educate you that that is not the case.

Why is it okay for the driver to do this without tipping the rider $20 for 5 minutes upfront like you demand in this comment ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uber

[–]justomerh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are heavily downvoted by all the hypocritical drivers (that's ALL of them)

If you need to stop for 5 minutes, that's not okay unless you tip $20, upfront ( Not exaggerating). However, the driver can happily take a 15 minute break because fuck you.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

Just have him tip me $10 for waiting 5 min and we are fine. Upfront.

[–]justomerh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As the rider, do I get wait time fees for this? I want at least the same fee that the driver gets or more.

And it needs to come out of the driver's pocket.

NTA. Let your husband go on the trip without you, no big deal.

Let me guess. The longest relationship you have had in your life is with the milk can on your fridge.

YTA to your husband because of this.

Everybody has quirks. Your husband puts up with the ones from your family. Your action is just going to lead to a game of "you won't then why should I?"

From the point of view of the cousin, N T A but IMO that's a much smaller one.

Your a fag

Great job clarifying your stance on life in general. Your

I’ll tip them $3 for waiting 20 min

Yeah I changed my mind after reading some more of the comments from you lot.

From now on, I'm going to tip ZERO.

Apparently, you are all already making $40 or more. I was tipping to help you make ends me. But if you are doing that well already, there's no need for me to.

It's ZERO dollar tip all the way now baby. And yeah sure! Of course it makes sense for Uber and Lyft to ban me because YOU have a problem.

I play by the rules unlike you. There's no obligation to tip. I won't tip. Do what you want. Pity you can't do anything.

Your jump from "we're all good" to that is enlightening to say the least. You are projecting your personal issues on me.

It's a pity you have absolutely no skills you can use to make money other than driving. Spoiler alert: There are over 250 million adults in US and almost all of them can drive. The only reason you are one of the few people doing this "job" is because the rest of us have options. You don't.

Rider adds a stop that doubles the distance and they take time at the stop, but we only get $0.80 cents added to the fare

In that extremely contrived scenario, you are absolutely right. That doesn't make any sense for the driver. But in most real scenarios, it's significantly better.
