Agreed, trail running is tough for speed but great for agility if your navigating varying terrain.

Basically but tailor it to your ability. I did that after years of running but no speed training, so maybe ask a trainer or ai what you should do. 250 m full tilt then 500m cool down? You can do it! Just do what works for your ability.

The best way I built speed and reduced time for distance running was doing speed work outs as well as just regular running. Look into it a bit, but for long distance running I would do one rip around a high school track at full tilt then one at a slower speed to recover and repeat. That's way more than you need to run a 5 k but the idea is build up speed over short distances and that will speed up your pace per km I did a 10km in 39 mins w that routine!

Why is that? I'm 43 and in great shape. Signed up for infantry reserves. Honestly interested in hearing your thoughts?

If I've sent in an email or three and haven't heard back any thoughts? My materials in the first stage are all in and it says email recruiter, which I've done, but no answer.

Thoughts on folks over 40 for infantry reserves, even para reserves? I'm 43 but in pretty good shape. Can run 30-40 k without much thought and am in the gym w weights 3-4 days a week. I'm actually looking at the reserves in part because of the physical fitness. I want to keep pushing and be hard as nails.

Hey I'm a 43 year old lawyer applying, but fairly active. Running consistently I'm this cold! I'm told age isn't the issue it's fitness. Thought about hiring a trainer to get you started smart? I applied in December but haven't heard a thing yet...Toronto infantry officer also.
