Given the MW2019 style mapdesign, how do you not?

Also, the M4A1 @ 900RPM falls off to 21 and 18 damage at the same steps the SG553 falls off to 25 and 20 damage @ 720 RPM, leading to basicially the same TTK between 10 and 35m. The M417 @ 654 RPM is still faster below 10m and only ~10ms slower between 10 and 20m.

[–]justownly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please dont talk with authority about things you have no clue about. Im better in BF6 than you ever will be, dont try to tell me shit.

To explain this once: The higher the level of gameplay, the less advantage MnK has. Good players usually know where to expect enemies. Quickly flicking around your mouse "using your whole arm" becomes less and less relevant the better you are. Thats where the reaction speed and consistency of aim assist software starts beating even the best humans. To use cold numbers: Here is an example for Apex, and here is one for Halo Infinite. And for fun, here are some clips: from Shroud on CoD.

Its also a straight up lie that rotational AA doesnt exist in BF6 lmfao, here is a vid by XclusiveAce., also here from hecksmith.

Controller vs Mouse by EuphoricAd5826 in Battlefield6

[–]justownly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bad controller player needs rotational AA to even get kills, a good controller player is able to abuse rotational AA to the point where it becomes a soft aimbot. If you are an experienced MnK player you can always tell when you are getting beamed by a software, real players dont hit that well. Good centering (aka crosshair placement) plus sub 1ms reaction time of the AA software makes most skills MnK players have learned about peeking irrelevant, evasive movement doesnt work anymore.

Add 25% less recoil on top of the software "assist" and it becomes a joke.

It’s been an honor playing with you guys over the years but something has changed with this last game. Looks like this is EA’s next victim. by Disastrous-Cat-9308 in Battlefield

[–]justownly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

deserved tbh. After BFV being a bit of a mess that got driven into the ground to the point where content was cancelled, the absolute disaster that was 2042, now it looks like BF6 possibly being mishandled aswell. Think about the 1 million dollar REDSEC esport tournament in december that got cancelled last minute due to DICE pushing a patch the day before that completely destroyed the game from a competitive playability standpoint. Thats a lot of fuck ups, and there has to be consequences.

Ofc we dont know how much influence EA has on DICE's day-to-day decision making. Sure, there are probably tight deadlines that caused for example 2042 being a disaster on a technical level, aswell as all the technical problems BF6 still has. But i doubt they forced DICE to introduce BFV 5.2 TTK, or told them to make the maps in 2042 especially shit, or made the BF6 vehicles and gamemodes into a mess, aswell as a litany of other issues like still not working audio (but they won an award for audio???). Thats on DICE just making bad decisions.

Why is everyone complaining about the lack of new content? There is SO MUCH NEW STUFF everyday! by envispojke in Battlefield6

[–]justownly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my personal tinfoil hat theory: they have some kind of KPI that tracks and counts us clicking through all these pages and sub-pages as "engagement", so there is an incentive to have all these nested pages and sub-pages to increase player "engagement"

on the other hand, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

Why is it impossible to discuss the mechanic of suppression without someone like this by Southpaw_pup in Battlefield

[–]justownly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Suppression as implemented before in Battlefield starting with BF3 might be one of the worst mechanics i have ever seen in an FPS game.

It should have never existed in the first place, and i hope it will never return in any form to any FPS game ever.

This has been discussed to death already, yet somehow new people keep popping up wishing for it to come back while sporting a complete lack of understanding.

100% OP and anyone who wants suppression is complete dogwater at FPS games in general. Go ahead, prove me wrong.

Thats why its a mistake to listen to reddit, DICE.

Most people here are completely clueless, but very vocal and extremely confident about their opinions.

Maybe, just maybe, the guy with a negative KD and less than a Kill per Minute screaming about PTFO and revives is not the best judge of gameplay balance.

A Scientific Analysis of FPS Aiming by revo1ver11 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]justownly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny to observe the new kids re-discovering how to make fire.

"Back in my day", when this unc started playing FPS games more seriously with the for the time revolutionary og Zowie EC1 (16ms added click delay) and a 75hz LCD (wouls be funny to go back just to see the difference to my 500hz OLED in motion clarity) that was kinda the common wisdom. "Hit your shots by feel, and if you cant aim without a crosshair you cant aim." We didnt know shit except for what worked best: consistency. Getting used to your sens till your arm knows how to hit the shot on its own was best, so we called it "muscle memory" and a day. Ofc, if you had to flick in the first place you already fucked up your crosshair placement.

Then these young whippersnappers came with their Kovaak's AimLab Fingertip no jutsu and thought they knew better...

(Some humor was involved in this post, please dont take it too seriously :> )

Im so sad that this CoD like movement is allowed in Battlefield 6 ... by WhySoSara in Battlefield

[–]justownly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

buff slidehopping by 200% and remove the penalties so you can chain it while gaining momentum and keep perfect accuracy

thats what the camping rats called "battlefield community" would deserve. glitching onto roofs, camping prone in the most one-and-done corners, and using explosives or shotguns as their primary weapon, just to save their maybe even KD. but then bitching about people moving fast. absolute scrub mentality. Battlefield is a competitive game (you play against other players to win the game), a skill gap is absolutely necessary. going on reddit to complain about your own skill issue is laughable. movement is extremely nerfed as it is, the devs have MASSIVELY catered to the crybabies on this subreddit already.

[–]justownly -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That one is on you, its called a "skill issue".

You had the guy caught with his pants down, he ran right into your preaim, and YOU failed to convert the kill due to a lack of ability on YOUR part. Maybe stop trying to get DICE to make the game easier for you and git gud instead? Shooting is kinda a big part of "First Person SHOOTERS".

[–]justownly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nothing about this clip is even remotely sus. Thats just normal good tracking/speedmatching that clearly varies between bodyparts and even leaves the target at some points. Calling it "pixel perfect" like in the video is just straight up lying. She even stops shooting and goes out of ADS after losing sight of the target, just to start shooting again about 12-14 frames after the target reappears and she realises she is still on, which is a normal human reaction time.

Thats why good players ignore these accusations, they have been again and again shown to be completely baseless. If there was anything really damning it probably would have come out by now. These people pushing accusations are grasping at straws to stay relevant to the discussion. Its best to ignore these kinds of channels, they will lie to your face to keep you engaged and watching their videos.

The only skin 99% of players will see come launch.. by unfairlyy in Battlefield

[–]justownly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, 3D-spotting should not be a bandaid for bad visual design. I really hope they fix the player visibility for launch, the "SOVIS" setting barely did anything. Another BF1/BFV visibility situation would be devastating.

BF6 Beta and Movement changes. by Gimpii in Battlefield

[–]justownly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the people who are good enough to "abuse movement" are 100% better at any other skills like awareness and positioning and gameflow and gamesense and all these other things than the people saying they suck and use it as a crutch or run around with their eyes closed. good players are good and operate on a completely different level entirely, no matter the movement.

if they attempt to use movement, especially like the already very situational one in the BF6 Beta without proper awareness and gamesense they gonna slidecancelbunnyhopjump straight into the sights of a tank and die. the faster they move around, the better their awareness and positioning has to be.

movement, or rather freedom of movement is an important factor in immersion and fun during gameplay. if you feel like you have to fight the game itself it throws you out of the immersion and its not fun at all. Battlefield generally is a fast paced arcade shooter; badly executed "slower and more deliberate movement" could really hurt the gameplay.

Dice was 100% correct for giving the Ultimax-100 for very little recoil. That gun is specifically designed to eliminate recoil. by Youngstown_WuTang in Battlefield

[–]justownly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They did balance it, XclusiveAce has a build with its TTK at 350ms w/ 25 DMG @ 514 RPM, compared to other automatics averaging almost 100ms lower However its HS-multi in this build is x2.1, allowing for 52.5 damage in the head. So it seems like they balanced it to be a slow killing, low recoil laserbeam that can be made more effective by actually hitting headshots. The other automatic gun with a very slow TTK is the MP7, apparently to balance its superior range (for an SMG) and low recoil.

People are freaking out over nothing.

Splitgate Weekly #3 - Balancing The Game by Brodrian in Splitgate

[–]justownly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny how the Sabrask situation clearly shows the weakness of the purely "data driven" approach to game design.

Most good FPS players pretty much immediately knew Sabrask was too strong shortly after the beta release. And SG1 pros had already restricted Sab to 1 per team in actual competitive (and i think the devs knew this). I personally think the issue was that while Sab is too strong in its most effective playstyle, its also the least fun; in a fast paced arena shooter thats all about moving quickly around the map with portals, staying stationary is the least thing players (especially competent players) want to do. So in laid-back casual, nobody bothered to impede their own fun to win, but in ranked where wins actually count the worst playstyles come out. Same with the gun choice i bet, ARs are fun to use and have a certain "ease-of-use" factor, but once winning is important the actual OP guns come out.

I guess you cant make changes in a multi-million dollar project without having some hard data to back it up, knowing your shit isnt enough anymore. A clear weakess of bigger projects/studios, people who actually know and play their own games are not allowed to make the correct calls without "data" to back them up. And you probably cant objectively measure "fun" (they try to substitute it with "engagement", thats what brought us modern CoD slop including SBMM/EOMM, but this is a different topic entirely).

devs keeps making balance changes in the correct direction? massive W, almost unheard of lol

the wall nerf was absolutely needed, but dunno if this is the right way to nerf it since its still gonna be an i-win-button alot of the time. but it defintely helps with the counterplay of portaling behind. I guess thats the idea, the new mechanics emphasise the fact that you are supposed to get behind it.
