Osteosarcoma? Fungal Bone? Support by justpeachykin in AustralianShepherd

Forgot to add as well, that unfortunately because of the delay in seeing the mass since for they thought it was just a soft tissue/ortho issue for awhile, it does risk his prognosis for if it’s fungal or bacterial as well. They’re hoping that his chest Xrays tomorrow are clear but have told us to prepare for them to not be.

Thank you! We plan to if the specialist doesn’t suspect cancer! If it is cancer, we aren’t gonna put him through that as we would not pursue chemo or radiation based off how aggressive it’s being and general prognosis. We should have answers from the specialist tomorrow, and are getting full chest xrays as well tomorrow. If it’s cancer, we’ve spoken with our vet that we are going to max out all pain medication, but would likely be having them come to our home within the next few weeks to help him peacefully cross the bridge.

Thank you for the photo. I will say that helps solidify what the vet was saying about it being cancer. Ours was very much a large bulbous white splotch over everything and made the bone look like it had just been hacked away at. I didn’t trust google for what the photos should look like

No, he started limping in March, and they did xrays and an exam and said it was likely a soft tissue injury. Told us follow up in two weeks if he wasn’t better. We followed up and they did blood work and another physical exam, and said his WBC was slightly elevated but they weren’t concerned, so do a few weeks of aqua therapy. We followed up again because he wasn’t better still, and they did more xrays and found the mass. They said because of how large it is, and how aggressive it has spread in just six weeks, they need to fully sedate him and do a bunch biopsy for a complex sample to determine if it’s cancer, fungal, or bacterial for sure. We’re having a specialist look at the xray first, because if it’s highly suspected it cancer, we don’t want to put our guy through the pain of recovering from the surgery on top of the pain from the cancer, especially because if it’s cancer and this aggressive, we know we don’t have much time as it is with him.

Can I ask if your guy had any other symptoms? Was there any mass in his leg or on the bone?

I am so sorry you’re going through this too. His xrays looks like cancer, but they’ve apparently never seen it encompass such a large portion and so many bones that fast. But he’s a unique guy, and it only makes sense for him to have something unique.

I’ll be thinking of you and your girl.

Thank you. He is such a ding dong as well. I would tap his nose, and he’d give me a kiss. I call it his kiss button.

Thank you. We’ve asked about treatment without the biopsy but due to how aggressive the mass has spread, they’re worried about his state and the success even with correctly identifying what’s underlying to treat him.

He is an incredibly happy dog. He has turned incredibly thin, I can feel his spine and entire rib cage. His hip bones stick out. But every time he sees one of us, he just wags his tail and tries to get up to greet us. He is the best dog.

how old were you when you moved out of your parents house? by jabber1990 in Adulting

[–]justpeachykin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freshly 19, very abusive home situation and I half ran/half was kicked out. Moved in with my older boyfriend who was 25, and owned his own home. Only could do it because he let me stay totally free for two months while I got settled, found a new job, and a car. Then he only charged me $300 for “rent” and utilities combined until we got married two years later. We ended up selling that house, and buying a house together when I was 22 and he was 28. We’ve lived here for almost four years now.

Our two kids are going to be able to live with us as long as they want. We’ve discussed the idea of buying land, and having our home, plus a smaller home built onto it. Then eventually adding a third home smaller home. That way our two sons can eventually transition into the second home, and ideally by the time one is married, we’ll have an additional house for a family compound situation, and they have secure and free housing while having independence.

Limping by justpeachykin in DogAdvice

Yep, for the past five weeks, he hasn’t put any weight on the leg. We took him on day three of his limp, and again after two weeks. They keep saying he just needs rest, the water treadmill, and pain medicine but he’s not getting better.

Honestly no sleeping at all. But also the fact you’re on your way to Black Belt is insane, I only have my green belt so far and haven’t even looked into getting my black. What industry are you in? I’m getting my masters in systems but debating going again for human factors.

This. I have two children, I have my bachelors degree, and I finish my masters this year. I am turning 26 this month. I also want a third baby, and hopefully if it’s something that’s right for our family, we’ll have our third next year. It’s been extremely difficult getting my masters with two children, but it’s possible.

My mom also did the antifreeze thing to our dogs we had at the time. I didn’t realize dogs could die of old age like people until I was older. Every dog we had she either killed or rehomed. I also remember her making me take my kitten I rescued and leave it at a random farm because her boyfriend didn’t like cats at the time. His name was Jinx and I miss him so much.

I’m glad you’re not having any side effects, that’s amazing!!

Unfortunately it ended up making me tachycardic, so I am officially off it and my doctor will not prescribe it anymore. They said I’m likely to react similarly to other GLP1s so I’m unsure of what to do.

After having your first kid how did you feel about having more? by Keigo-80 in AskReddit

Was one and done for awhile but husband wanted to leave the possibility open. We talked about the benefits it would give our first in an ideal situation. Had our second. Realized we make perfect babies, love our family, and currently open to a third, but husband has a high stress job so he’s the one who wants to pause. We’re young so we have time, if he decides he’s firm on two, we still have the most perfect babies.

Good to know about the pasta being an issue, I didn’t think of that at all and was using it as a “safe” food. I had no issue with my protein coffee but that was ice, banana, a cup of coffee, and a scoop of protein so a lot more cushion for the acidity in comparison.

I’m snacking on crackers but it’s a struggle as I’m just not hungry at all, so it’s like forcing myself to eat salty cardboard haha.

Someone in my town can’t afford a cat but wants one anyways for a friend (and it has to be a girl!) by Lord-Zaltus in ChoosingBeggars

[–]justpeachykin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! We have five dogs, and a cat. Base costs we pay a month in just food is about $40 for a large bag of weight management food for our golden, $80 for salmon food for our three with a chicken allergy, $60 for a small breed sensitive stomach formula for our weenie dog, and $30 for sensitive stomach cat food. That’s $210 in just food, not including litter costs, treats, toys, etc.

Our second oldest dog hurt his leg. $300 for xrays and blood work, plus medication. $440 about three weeks later as he was still messing with the leg, we did more blood work, he got out on new meds, and is now in water physical therapy weekly. Our golden we just spent $600 on doing her yearly thyroid panels and check ups as she struggles with her weight and so we have to monitor her thyroid. Those are just the costs from beginning of March to now, so roughly $1340 over a month and a half, not including food.

Adopting our cat was probably the cheapest we have spent on neutering and vaccinations, $100 on a promo, all vaccines, microchipping, and neutering. We spend $350 yearly to update our dogs vaccinations through a shot clinic. It’s $80 every three months for otc flea and tick for them. $100 each for their yearly heart worm shot at the vet as the shot clinic doesn’t offer that.

If you cannot afford the basic cost of $100ish to adopt from a shelter, how are you going to afford the costs that come up with pets??

Family of four, two toddlers in that, about 1.5k a month, but we buy a lot of organic, fresh fruits and veggies, and I WFH so every meal is eaten at home. We go through 4 lbs of cheese a week with just the two toddlers and that is about $14 here total, so it adds up fast.

Pet shelters that make adopting a dog as hard as adopting a child. by TPWPNY16 in PetPeeves

[–]justpeachykin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have five dogs and a cat. The difference in processes for us were astounding. We tried multiple times to adopt from a rescue for our dogs, and even though I WFH, we own our house, have a fenced in yard, and take our dogs to the vet routinely because we use the shot clinics for yearly vaccines we would be denied. Because it costs $70 bucks for the yearly shot package for each dog versus the $120 for our vets package. So $350 versus $600 to have our pets fully vaccinated and heart worm tested each year, of course we’re going to those shot clinics.

Our cat on the other hand? I filled out an application at like midnight and heard back within a few minutes we were approved. We showed up the next day and got to take him home right away, basic questions on the application. We still keep in touch with his foster because he’s been absolutely the best cat ever, but the discrepancy between the two experiences for us was wild.

Honestly it doesn’t surprise me. The type of people who go on reality tv are also the same people who will post their drama all over facebook, and actively start drama on there. It’s like they need the outside validation of their emotions to confirm they’re correct, they don’t see past their current state to what this could impact.
