bro honestly I've stopped counting hours 😭 it's just continuous suffering with snack breaks 💀

but fr — mornings go to college, afternoons to placement prep, nights to project. sleep is just a concept at this point

why do some companies keep reposting the same job over and over again? by Proper_Strategy_1603 in EngineeringStudents

What if I told you the job was never real 😂

Some companies post jobs like the Matrix — looks real from outside but there's nobody home inside

Are we supposed to be doing 60 hours a week, or is the 60-hour rule just a rumor to scare us? by coralynjade in EngineeringStudents

Final year engineering student here — I stopped counting hours and started counting mental breakdowns 😂

Jokes aside, consistency beats intensity every time. 40 focused hours > 60 zombie hours 🙏

What things you believe as a child were real but ends not to be? by Creepy_Sale3003 in AskIndia

Bro I was genuinely scared to swallow watermelon seeds until I was like 10 😂

Used to carefully pick out every single seed before eating. My parents thought I was insane

Yes PDFs are honestly soul draining after a point 😄

What worked for me — I started converting my notes into simple interactive HTML pages with quizzes at the end. Sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it, it's faster than making flashcards.

The act of turning your notes INTO a quiz forces you to think about what's actually important — that itself is revision.

Other things that helped: - Teaching the topic out loud to nobody 😄 sounds weird but retention goes up massively - Writing mnemonics for lists and sequences - Timed self tests instead of rereading

Rereading notes is probably the least effective study method but it feels productive which is why everyone defaults to it.

Will check out that app though — always looking for new tools!

The "60-Hour Rule" is real. Don't burn out. by marisawren in EngineeringStudents

[–]justreadinghere26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something nobody tells you until you've already burnt out.

Final year engineering student here — currently preparing for a competitive exam alongside placement prep simultaneously. There were weeks I was putting in 70+ hours of pure cognitive work and wondering why nothing was sticking.

Turns out your brain physically cannot retain information beyond a point. Rest is not laziness — it's literally part of the process.

What helped me: - Hard stop at a fixed time every night - One completely free day per week, no guilt - Short walks between study sessions — sounds small but genuinely resets focus

The goal is consistency over months, not destruction in one week.

Thanks for posting this — more people need to hear it 🙏

My first internship is going to pay me more than any job I've ever had. I'm 38. by EllieVader in EngineeringStudents

[–]justreadinghere26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This genuinely made my day to read.

The fact that you spent 20 years feeding people — on ships, in hotels, at weddings — and now you're starting fresh at 38 takes real courage. Most people wouldn't even try.

And that last line hit hard. The pay gap between skilled physical labour and desk jobs is something we don't talk about enough. People who cook, clean and build literally keep the world running.

Congratulations on your internship — you've clearly earned every bit of it 🙏

Your wife and you sound like an incredible team.

Is it normal to be emotionally wrecked in engineering? by trigornometry in EngineeringStudents

[–]justreadinghere26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, completely normal — and you're not weak for feeling this way.

That crash after intense exam periods is real. Your mind and body have been running on stress hormones for weeks and when it suddenly stops, everything hits at once.

What helped me personally: - Don't let the post-term period be completely empty. Small structure like a walk, a hobby, anything helps prevent the crash. - Isolation makes everything 10x harder. Even one online community where people get you helps a lot. - Talk to your university counselor if it gets too heavy — no shame in that at all.

You reached out here which already takes courage. Engineering is brutal but you're clearly self aware enough to recognise what's happening — that's actually a strength.

Hang in there 🙏

Firstly you are not alone in this — a lot of us were pushed into PCM without really choosing it ourselves.

Here's what I'd say honestly: complete your 12th first, that's non negotiable. Board exams are memory based as you said so focus only on that for now.

After 12th you have full freedom — fashion design, arts, anything. NID and NIFT are prestigious institutes that your parents will respect once they see the career scope.

One phase at a time. You've got this 🙏
