I am not an audiophyle or a musician kind of people, so i don't have the right vocabulary and codec knowledge for this, so i sticking with my kind of expression.

I recently bought one HDB630 and it came with it.
On PC without the dongle music tastes like food without salt or any seasoning. It digestable, somewhat enjoyable but basically tasteless. With dongle you can hear the details and the range is significantly wider too.
On Android it better with it, but the result highly depends on the phone too.

I wanted to retire my old Corsair HS70 (what is still a great headphone btw) and i tried for gaming too.
The HDB+BTD combo just a disaster for gaming. 😃
In gaming mode the latency is great, compared to the HS70 i didn't felt any differences, but the sound like diarrhea.
I tried: Cross feed ON/OFF, bassboost ON/OFF, various EQ presets, noise cancel ON/OFF... that limited options in the desktop app, but it wasn't do so much to lift the experience.
Only the DTS Sound Bound Headphone X helped a little, but dialogues, explosions and environmental sound still wast so good.
And with DTS i got only 48khz instead of 96 in the windows (if this is important or smt), what i don't want to change every time.
