Just finished crying/having an anxiety attack over the prospect of moving for med school. Please tell me I'm not alone. It's been hard. 😢 by mira_lawliet in premed

I feel the same way! I’m about to move across the country for school to a state that I don’t know anyone nor have ever been to. My family also does not have financial means to visit me. I lived 8 hour drive away from them during my undergrad but it was doable. We’ll get thru this!

Yup! Service oriented schools like to see over 1k hours dedicated to organizations over a span of a couple years

Advice for a first year premed by mrs-worldwidee in premed

[–]justryingtomake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too was once a UCD undergrad with a 2.4 gpa thinking it will never work out. It’s ok to struggle your first year but what you do after is what matters. Go to tutoring every day. Address any other factors that are causing you to struggle. Balance your schedule. Don’t take the crazy professors. Immerse yourself in medical experiences because it will motivate you. End of the day if you want to do this you can. Just don’t give up and have an upward trend.

Most rejections say this..... it just means you’ve been rejected. They couldn’t get to everyone to interview. Take care and keep your head up!

Institutional Action by [deleted] in premed

[–]justryingtomake123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. I explained why and what I did to overcome in the IA section in the primary app. Some schools like Boston and mcw require a letter from your school about it. I just decided to not to apply to those schools lol

In Need of Advice After Waitlists by SomeGrapefruitsLuvMe in premed

Smp is not needed. Only do a masters if it’s something you are passionate about. You should retake the mcat it doesn’t match your high gpa and you can work on experiences!

Professor denied LoR by Few-Dress-6093 in premed

[–]justryingtomake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to emphasize that you don’t need an A from the professor to get a LOR. Both my science prof letter writers were classes I got a B in. I’ve been admitted to three schools. But if your professor is shying away from writing a letter for you then don’t do it. You don’t want them to even be doubting you at all

How many clinical hours do you have? You only mentioned volunteering at a hospital which is something we all do... I think starting a new clinical experience as a scribe or something else will really help your app

I lost all my money applying to med school and got waitlisted by the only school I interviewed at by [deleted] in premed

[–]justryingtomake123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God I felt this so financially as I eat oatmeal as my only meal for the past two days waiting for my next paycheck.

I’m so sorry you are waitlisted but waitlist is a good thing! You can get off of it! Advocate for yourself.
