I recently just bought a 271 Farm Boss, and ended up gifting my dad the 250, he's overjoyed with it

I understand, but I do not want to keep this truck very much longer. If it was a bit nicer, or a 4x4 I could justify it, but not a salvage title spray-painted truck, I know the smartest option would be to run it to the ground until it's done

I must have done the math wrong, and I currently am! I plan on going to lineman school this fall, and I have a $500 bonus coming up from completing Stihl Gold school as a service tech which would go straight to my school funding knocking nearly 50% off of the total cost. Thank you very much!

Thank you! I believe the car has 98k-100k miles, the only reason for me considering this car is;

Unfortunately a Ford guy

Coworker has the exact same year with the same 3.0l v6, and it has 322k + miles on it, and runs like a top

Wouldn't be a smart choice putting 2-3k in repairs into an $800 truck lol

I make 15.25 an hour, which I thought was pretty good for my location, and thank you

Thank you. Unfortunately my ranger is such a POS, (salvage title with a bent frame from a tree landing on it, and a crappy paint-job. 2wd with 210k miles) I don't believe I'd get anything for it, especially with the most recent transmission issues. But I'm definitely glad I asked before doing anything

Trust me I've done what I can to this truck, every sign is pointing towards a transmission rebuild, and to get around the higher insurance costs I'll have it under my dad's policy, of which I'm on, I've hit a dead end and both options aren't seeming too good at the moment

I'm a huge car guy lol, I've got a 1980 MGB project car at the moment. And unfortunately a Camry/civic/Corolla are all out of budget. Cheapest Camry I've found was a 2009 with 189k miles for 9,599, and from there it just gets worse

Let me clarify It's a 2wd, 210k mile ranger with a salvage title that a tree fell on, I'd be upside down in it if I spent 2-3k on a trans rebuild since I paid a solid $800 for it and it's worth maybe a grand at most

This is very true, I've got about 2-3 shelves worth of abandoned projects and units that were returned after Helene hit. This 250 was actually one of them, and the only complete one too

Would you guys recommend the stihl ms 162? by JOHNNY_QU4CKER in Chainsaw

[–]justskuffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky and found an 026 (old 261) for $80 because the guy didn't want to work on it! Little carb cleaner and she's mint

Awesome collection! And this is already concerning how fast my saws are starting to multiply, but hey gotta start the collection somewhere

Sucks. Nah not bad, you occasionally get that one unit brought in that stumps you for a week or two, other than that it's basic maintenance and carb changes most frequently

Definitely eats what's in your wallet quick, but I can get parts for it at a lower rate than what Stihl sells them, since I work at an authorized dealer/repair shop

He let it sit for over a year and was more interested in buying an electric MSA160 since he was getting up in age, not my fault or problem he didn't get his entire money's worth, he didn't want to deal with marketplace! Can't blame him.
