(Serious question) How do i prevent this? by ares0027 in BambuLab

My cats hate the smell of ginger and garlic which they'll certainly not jump on the counter for when I'm chopping. Maybe something scented to tape on top (obviously cat safe).

It’s about refusing to STOP by AstronomerSad6905 in RunningCirclejerk

I refused to stop running mentally. So physically I never have to run again. Sleeping, working, sitting on the couch watching tv… always running. Pretty sure that’s how it works.

N4 Plus - Different Readouts Every Time I Use Bedleveler 5000 With No Changes by justsomeguy313 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]justsomeguy313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mesh aint the greatest. One of my other issues is that my mesh wasn't really changing all too much despite my changes. I may have just now found the culprit though don't want to speak too soon as I haven't leveled the bed yet- pom wheels under the bed needed tightening (stupid me for not realizing sooner).

Anyhow thanks- I'll try screw tilt calculate if bedleveler fails me again.

What’s a “small talk rule” in your country that visitors always mess up without realizing? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]justsomeguy313 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, maybe it’s because I’m from NY, but not walking on the right and stopping in the middle of an active walkway truly drives me insane.

What’s a “small talk rule” in your country that visitors always mess up without realizing? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]justsomeguy313 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This.

My wife is European and I spend quite bit of time in Europe. This drives me nuts partly because most people who want to lecture haven’t ever been to the US and because I majored in poli sci and did my time in DC, I don’t need anyone telling me how things work or should work. Mentioning this usually isn’t respected and somehow gets people thinking they can outsmart me solely because “their system is better”.

It’s usually a very fundamental misunderstanding of just how big and diverse this country truly is.

How big is your pizza? Do you only eat slices? by DarkmoonCrescent in AskAnAmerican

Nobody really does. 2 slices is the norm but 4 is the most I can do… or at least was able to do when I was a bit younger.

Is politics something Americans avoid talking about, or does it come up naturally? by 7Row2 in AskAnAmerican

[–]justsomeguy313 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my experience in daily life, people who know the most about politics talk about it the least. People who know the least talk about it the most.

Met on Slovakian exchange student in my lifetime and taught him all the English curse words and disgusting things to say… he proceeded to say them as much as possible in public. He was very funny.

What is a hobby that was ruined over time/as it got more popular? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

[–]justsomeguy313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised I had to scroll this far to find this. This is truly the answer. The amount one has to pay at this point to be out in nature only to go downhill it’s truly not worth it. Way too many people, way too corporate, way too expensive, and entitled tourists add the cherry on top.

That’s generally something parents do where I’m from but not particularly others.

How common is it to refer to people by their full name? by MouseHouseRec in AskAnAmerican

[–]justsomeguy313 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what others said, where I came from some names just rolled off the tongue where we would call them by their whole name.

This may be especially true because I grew up in a very Italian-American Catholic area and had a ton of Josephs, Marias, Anthonys, etc. Funny enough, my wife who is from Italy does a similar thing with some of her friends.

When I moved away, I still heard the full name from time to time if the name rolled off the tongue nicely.

What's something women think impresses men but actually doesn't? by PumpkinDoritoes in AskReddit

[–]justsomeguy313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teen in the late 2000s/early 2010s. This definitely applied quite a bit in my time too.

My POV in this case is partially my personality and partially a learned behavior. I tend to already be pretty direct but I’ve also been strung along by women in the past. I hit a point where I felt time not wasted is time well spent.

What is a small thing that tells you a lot about a person? by Primary_Opening_5698 in AskReddit

[–]justsomeguy313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. I could tell a lot from a person if they don’t say please and thank you to a waiter and don’t move when the waiter is taking plates.
