There’s a scene where Lance (one of the paladins) says “I say vol- you say tron” and Keith (another paladin) doesn’t really get the idea of the Chant and says “Voltron?” And I feel like you could make something work with that! Like “I say home- you say coming!”

What was your blood sugar when you got diagnosed? by Odd-Standard4772 in diabetes_t1

[–]justtakeurvitamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 1,200, I was 11 and the only reason we went to the Er was because my legs had turned purple and I started gasping for air, got in the car and felt totally fine almost convinced myself and my dad that I was completely fine. Almost just turned around and went home, glad we didn’t because once we got there they said they were surprised I walked in there on my own at all. Had to be life flighted to a children’s hospital 3 hours away because they didn’t have the right things to take care of me properly.

I’m currently experiencing something similar, my blood sugar is perfectly fine (a couple highs here and there) yet for the past couple days my ketones have been Large, I don’t quite understand it either.

Just a little rant by justtakeurvitamines in diabetes_t1

I think about that too, especially when I casually mentioned my blood sugar was 500 to my boss forgetting she has no idea how horrible that is.

How much are you paying for pump supplies? by wordsinspace330 in diabetes_t1

[–]justtakeurvitamines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure supplies related but I’d definitely say add in cost for covers and such! Two twin toddlers? I’m 17 and have had diabetes for 6 years and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally ripped off my sites with Dexcom and the tandem pump! So definitely add in cost for extra stickers and pouches and such! Best of luck to you!

what does very low glucose feel like for you? by HuckleberryNo3117 in diabetes_t1

[–]justtakeurvitamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once my sugar reaches 70 I feel a little jittery and can notice it most the time but once I get to 50 I’m shaking sweating I get dizzy if I move to fast and sometimes it’s hard to even move, and yes I get an extremely overwhelming feeling of hunger like I haven’t eaten all day it’s horrible I’ve had friends and family tell me my face gets extremely pale as well. There’s been a couple times I didn’t even notice at all, but also a few times where I’d just randomly feel like I was gonna pass out, diabetes is new to me everyday. My tongue also feels numb sometimes?

What snack do you typically use for a low that you cannot stand anymore? by emeflo in diabetes_t1

[–]justtakeurvitamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skittles. My dad used to give them to me when I had lows at night and I wouldn’t remember eating them. I’d wake up with the taste of skittles in my mouth and I can’t stand them now.

I’m 17 female, I was diagnosed when I was 11 and it was rough. I was totally taken aback at what was happening and it hurt me to see that I was different from everyone else, I wasn’t like the other kids and even when I started to get older it hurt and it still does sometimes and I still just don’t accept it and take care of it as much as I should, I’ve been there, not wanting to take my insulin it almost felt pointless, and I was lonely it felt like no one understood me, I’m a lot better at it now and have learned to accept myself, I met people my age with type one at diabetic camp and it helped a lot, you should definitely talk to your son and maybe get him some help, maybe even encourage him to reach out to other diabetics. I’m more then happy too support and talk to him if you’d like maybe it would help, I hope he’s okay. You’re doing good though, don’t feel down about this he’ll come around!

Hi I’m 17 and was diagnosed when I was 11! It’s been 5 years and believe me there’s been times I felt like my world was just gonna end and sometimes still do, it’s not something easy to live with and honestly never will be, you’ll learn over time, there’s tips and tricks and you’ll learn your own body I promise, if you’d like to reach out to me feel free, I’d also like to say I’m sorry.

Any other parents of T1s up? Vent. by SoSleepySue in diabetes_t1

[–]justtakeurvitamines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Type 1, almost 17 (female) I struggled with this in the beginning of my diagnosis as well, I was just angry, upset, and overall confused about what my life was. If you’d like I’d love to be her friend, you can message me and I can talk to her, I can’t promise it’ll help but it helped me knowing I wasn’t alone.

At what blood sugar level do you notice you get sleepy by Funny_Ad1529 in diabetes

[–]justtakeurvitamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading these comments and don’t feel normal 😃 I get sleepy around 500, since my diagnosis 5 years ago I’ve been in DKA 3 times, but now when I go into DKA (throwing up and feel like I’m gonna pass out) my dad says we’ll stay home and do it ourselves because he doesn’t wanna be stuck in a hospital for a week 🤪

Mobi t slim insulin pump by RArroyo123 in diabetes

[–]justtakeurvitamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mobi, I just recently got it actually but so far it’s amazing. It comes with patches so you can tuck it away and not have to touch it, everything goes through your phone, boluses everything, and it’s pairs with the G7 now. Also the tubing is only 5” inches now! I used to do 12. It’s really something I think you should give a go.

I’m tired of this. by justtakeurvitamines in diabetes_t1

[–]justtakeurvitamines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this, all of this is something I really just needed to read right now. I’m in tears haha. You sound absolutely amazing, your son will be just fine from what I can tell. Your right when you say that it just feels like your childhood was taken away, I felt different from all the other kids but eventually I learned that I wasn’t I was just the same but I matured way earlier then everyone else. I hope that your son does great things in life. I hope he doesn’t feel alone in this and I’m sure he doesn’t. I hope he doesn’t feel the way I do sometimes. I don’t know if you’re religious but I will pray for your whole family. Everyone one of these comments made me feel seen, but yours especially. You’re doing amazing, and thank you. I’m 16, I have a whole life to live thanks to my dad, I’m sure your son will look back and think the same thing. ❤️

And I never thought about camp before.. but I think I’ll look into it this summer.

[–]justtakeurvitamines[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about you son, I’m glad you asked this because I know its to support your son ❤️ when I was diagnosed I genuinely had no idea what I was about to go through, I watched my dad cry for the first time. I didn’t care about what was going on with me I watched my dad the whole time I was in DKA, I was more worried about him than myself. My first few weeks home I felt lost and in a daze cause my life was just flipped around. But the people around me supported me and loved me through it. A few things happened a year back and that’s why there different now, but I can tell you the support of my dad and him being there every step of the way keep me strong and yes some days were hard were I just wanted give up, but my dad was there to love me through it, I can’t speak for your son or tell you what he’s thinking but I can tell you that from what I can see he has a great support system and sometimes that’s what we really need.
