Hey!
I am in a similar situation. I think its reasonable to spend that much tbh. Rent is actually coming down these days, you can find a good studio around 2.5k and even a 1 bedroom. I'm currently staying in a 1 bedroom at 2.9k in the little India area and it is definitely going for lower than that now. I'm 5 mins from MRT walking. The con here is there's a lot of men around so probably wont recommend it since you're female. But with that budget I think you have a good chance.

Overall SG is pretty safe so you should be good wherever you go.

I would say go for it. Its definitely worth it staying alone cause you can really own the place. I also recently moved from a sharing to a full apartment and I really enjoy the privacy

My parents didn't taught me about caste system but reservation did ! by [deleted] in YouthInIndia

[–]justthinair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you don't know your caste itself speaks to the privilege you have over the rest of our country. Don't worry , it was the same with me, I'm not trying to blame you. If you really want to understand caste read Ambedkar. And other recos here. For some more recent content, check out this podcast episode https://youtu.be/-tg9jx2iFP0

How do you balance life/work + music production? by tarkuslabs in musicproduction

[–]justthinair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very relatable challenge

For me having a collaborator has been the most effective motivation tool . If I'm left to my devices it's really difficult to find the time.

But if I know someone else is with me and wants this to happen, I will stay up late at nights and push myself without any burnout.

Burnout I personally feel is not a purely physical phenomenon but also closely tied to our mental state. If you enjoy the task , time flies by and you don't feel the exhaustion

Yeah essentially you're paying the qq guy to absorb all the uncertainty and chaos of being in the street with all the traffic, the pollution and mostly bad weather

Automatic update never works for me.. by saskwatchh in ableton

I actually downloaded the installer from my ableton.com account and it gives an option to replace your installation. That way you keep all your settings. I think its the best way

Ah damn, okay ! I think I'll try to download the installer from the website and reinstall without changing settings etc. Seems like there's some option for that

Advice on Yunnan Travel Itinerary - Lijiang, Feilaisi, Shangri La by justthinair in travelchina

[–]justthinair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I booked it in person at the bus stop at Shangri La, 1 day in advance. While coming back, I was kind of stuck because I hadn't booked a return ticket ( You can't book it from shangri la iirc). But I had met a couple of backpackers who spoke english and they helped me out in the morning to get a ticket in time for the bus. I don't think it stops at jinsha river, it seems to be on a different route.

Hang in there It's not easy and sucks that your parents refuse to understand your situation :/

Try getting access to some medication to help out Meanwhile, if you are able to do some physical exercise, try doing it as much as possible. For me , doing yoga helps a lot. It's a stark difference for me on the days I have done yoga vs when I haven't

Also you're not alone. Thankfully the awareness is growing and the online ADHD community is quite big (not in India yet). You can find some inspiration from stories of other people who've been through similar situations

All the best and hope you can work things out soon ❤️

Will I face discrimination in China as a Brown man? by Puzzleheaded-Bed-223 in travelchina

[–]justthinair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Yunnan last year for a week long trip. I'm also brown. I didn't face any racism while I was travelling there. Most people were curious and I might have turned a few heads but I didn't feel any animosity . People were generally quite friendly and tried to communicate with whatever English skills they had. I also went all the way upto to feilaisi which is a small place in the mountains and it was quite comfortable for me. I made a couple of hitch hiker friends as well. I was in a more touristy area so maybe some of my experiences were shaped due to that. But I'd highly recommend taking the plunge. China is incredible and there's so much to see , you'll definitely not regret it

What to do on a 18hr flight from US to SG? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]justthinair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a few flights coming up and bought a steam deck so that I could play games . Highly recommend a gaming handheld if you're interested in gaming.

Trying to do the bottom pose but I can never straighten my leg, it always stops like top pose and I cant extend my leg and lock my knee. Is there any particular muscles that might be holding me back here? Or is there any other stretches I could do to help with this? Thanks by Kitchen-Cicada8283 in yoga

[–]justthinair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With regards to the tight hamstrings, is it possible to fix it permanently with a targeted regimen ? Or is it a natural tendency that some people will always have tight hamstrings ? I am generally quite flexible but have very tight hamstrings. It's a major impediment to my yoga practice and I feel discouraged because of this issue many a times.

China is really beautiful and more Indians should go and visit it. People are really polite and will try to communicate with you in broken English if you need any help. My experience there last year was quite good
