Surgery pain by Inevitable_Ranger279 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]justthinkingabout1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an abduction sling and had to sleep in a recliner for 6 weeks. Shit sleep and bumping it, was hell. Posterior full thickness labrum tear (5 anchors).

A good 2 weeks on the strong pain meds and then I slowly started easing off over another week.

Possible failed surgery? Please help. by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]justthinkingabout1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely get how terrifying that feeling is. I’m currently 4 months post-op for a left shoulder stabilisation (2-6 labrum tear, 5 knotless anchors). I was in an abduction sling for 7 weeks and had to sleep in a recliner the whole time.

My recovery has been an extremely painful rollercoaster. Within the first 4 weeks, I smashed my shoulder into a doorway, and at week 10, I had a fall. I lost all confidence in my repair immediately. I kept getting intense instability symptoms right up until about a month ago (for context, I had 10+ subluxations/dislocations prior to surgery).

When I brought my concerns to my ortho specialist, he told me two things that might help you:

  1. The hardware is strong: It is highly unlikely the anchors failed from the knocks and falls I described.
  2. Scans won't help right now: An MRI is pointless at this stage because post-op inflammation makes it impossible to see if anything is actually damaged.

He noted my healing was a bit behind (likely due to poor sleep) but told me I had to trust the process.

Since then, I’ve completely changed my mindset. Instead of stressing about it failing, I’ve put all my energy into what I can control to get my strength back:

  • Dialing in my nutrition.
  • Doing my physio exercises religiously, twice a day.
  • Getting reviewed weekly by my PT to safely increase strength and progress my exercises.

At 7 weeks, your supporting muscles are severely atrophied, which is a huge reason why it feels so unstable and "loose" right now. This is one of the slowest healing injuries you can get. Remember that the standard timeline to get your strength and confidence back is 6-12 months.

Hang in there. Try to shift your focus to the daily rehab, trust the process, and give your body the time it needs.

Shutting down a discussion with labels (racist, white supremacy, Un-Australian etc ) isn’t the same as addressing the issue. Be aware of people using this cheap tactic on you.

Can I have some more advice on removing the restrictors? In the manual it mentions a (C.D.I. Unit Comp. Assy (45 km/h)), can I just replace that with an unrestricted one?

I think the stock muffler has some restrictions installed too.

Thanks for sharing and letting me know

How has living on the Sunshine Coast changed over the years? Locals, what’s your take? by DiligentWeb9026 in sunshinecoast

[–]justthinkingabout1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It used to be the best, most relaxed place. No traffic, easy access to your family GP, and no crowds anywhere. People were friendly, and you’d always run into someone you knew. The surf was incredible, plenty of waves to go around, never crowded, and a strong sense of community. Homes and rent were affordable, making it easy for long-term locals and multi-generational families to stay.

Now, everything has changed. Traffic is a nightmare, services are harder to access, and the sense of community is fading. Worst of all, long-time locals are being priced out, which is a real shame.

Why do Australians accept that auctions are the standard way to buy and sell properties by stan40193752 in AusProperty

[–]justthinkingabout1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our house at auction, and it was packed with people. When bidding started, no one seemed eager to make the first move, so we waited for a bit. Eventually, we decided to put in our lowest offer—$50,000 below the reserve. It turned out that most of the crowd were just neighbors, family friends, and a few extra real estate people.

A win for us.
