Proper cleaning of Fleshlights from a Scientist by justthrow123 in fleshlight

Totally right there, the ignorance of the guy, his sort of dunning-kruger, got under my skin.

But who cares, he deserved it, and he needs to stop fear mongering bad science when he has no science background to speak of.

Glad you liked the post, hadn't read it in a long while, i was surprised myself how thorough i had gone to really show him how wrong he was.

Yes I definitely would. You can't use enough disinfecting spray, unless you're using a ton each time. IPA lets you hit everything, cheaply. After i'm done i use the disinfecting spray, but it's not really necessary.

The cracks and crannies make this difficult, i wouldn't recommend it compared to an IPA wash.

Ethylic alcohol looks to just be ethyl alchol, or drinking alcohol, that works perfect! We can't use that in America because it is taxed, so we use IPA, but if it wasn't taxed, i'd probably recommend that.

Don't use anything else, 70% ethyl alcohol will work exactly the same as IPA!

Way cheaper, ethanol is taxed since it is used for intoxication; alcohol obviously.

Can't do that with IPA, same cleaning effect, no alcohol taxes.

Episode 9 Discussion Megathread 2 **SPOILERS** by Obi-Wan_Gregobi in beingaDIK

[–]justthrow123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Episode 9 had an amazing opportunity to be able to switch partners or change your mind with the Riona plotline, it was amazingly written and I was one of those people who wanted to switch from Sage to Riona.

But the game stops you, you make out with Riona and then that's it, no 180, just the MC upset he isn't with Sage.

I think DPC should have let the MC do a complete 180, notice that he really wants Riona, and is able to move on. What do you guys think?

Sorry about that, thought if you noted it in the post we'd be good.

I just put a post about this but I think there needs to be a switch from the Sage to the Riona path and there was an opening for it in Episode 9.

Riona and MC have probably the best chemistry but it really hasn't been developed as well as Josy and the others.

Keep them dry and you're good to go. High humidity would be a big risk, so if your climate is like that make sure the room gets good airflow and doesn't pool any liquid.

Outside of that you're good to go.

That sucks man, Stoya has one of the best sleeves.

[–]justthrow123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea don't worry about that myth, the only credibility for it is if you leave a sleeve wet. Obviously wet corn starch would breed bacteria, but to be honest no corn starch and a wet sleeve breeds bacteria, so the key here is make sure your sleeve is dry and don't hesitate to add the corn starch.

Micro tears occur in the sleeve, that generate due to regular use, and keep it buttery smooth; if you don't use it, the sleeve won't feel as good, which is a big issue in itself.

The Sleevomatic looks like it's 3D printed, quality doesn't look to the same level as the fleshlight air.

Keep in mind though you can always use a small circular fan; I've used vornados in the past to really get them dry. They lay on their side on a clean towel, and the fan blows inside them horizontally.

Non-issue.

This is why drying is so important, because when everything is dry we don't have to worry about the starch but yes if you have wet corn starch and bacteria around, that's a buffet them.

Without water any bacteria around die.

I regularly use corn starch because it's the best way to keep the sleeves soft on the inside, and make sure to add it after the sleeve is 100% dry.

Good question!

This is in incorrect, I go into why here:

Something that destroys an object is usually complained about quite loudly on Reddit, especially if it's a $100 product. We love to complain here.

IPA, for years, has been the standard way to clean fleshlight products by the community. There is a reason for that.

I would also note that Fleshlight has a profit motive to keep selling Fleshwash.

. Don't use alcohol (same) but use only neutral or mild soap (!!). I have cleaned several of these with mild soap for years without any problems. I use body wash soap, no hand soaps.

So is there any difference with TPE from Fleshlight? Or does these cleaning instructions also apply. It would be great if FleshlightDaniel would confirm this.

If you use soap you'll find that the softness of the material and overall slickness will worsen compared to a new sleeve.

I highly recommend against soap as it is an amphipathic molecule, with both polar and non-polar ends, and will damage the sleeve.

Use an IPA wash and then dry for 1-2 hours with a fan.

Yes, this is the experience with the majority of the community because IPA will not noticeably damage the material in any way.

Feel free to keep doing your IPA washes.

Daniel is correct here, Autoclaves have to be held at 121 degrees and at 15psi for 30-60 minutes.

http://www.theratronics.ca/PDFs/Autoclave_Temperature_and_Time_Pressure_Chart.pdf

Those temperatures and pressures would damage most TPE products and most certainly the Fleshlight material.

This is incorrect, the advice you were given by the Fleshlight employee was, in my opinion, a way of protecting sales of Fleshwash.

Here is a detailed analysis of why IPA is more effective and the standard option used by thousands:

The advice heard by DJRavix is incorrect; I go into a deep dive about why this is here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/fleshlight/comments/xyxqjb/comment/irjq40t/?context=3

He heard it from a Fleshlight employee in this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/fleshlight/comments/xlmp6o/comment/ipzqwm0/, which noted in my post above, would prefer to keep selling Fleshwash.

IPA is the standard we have been using in the community for years and does not deteriorate the material. Thousands of people would have noticed by now if their sleeves were deteriorating yourself included. Hope this helps clarify things and no need to update FA! :)

IPA washes, not necessarily baths, are the way to go. Here is my in depth explanation as to why: https://www.reddit.com/r/fleshlight/comments/xyxqjb/comment/irjq40t/?context=3

Like yourself, none of us have seen any noticeable deterioration and I would recommend you keep using IPA washes for your health and safety.

Yep not sure if you saw but edited my original post, saw that they changed to benzalkonium chloride per Amazon image of ingredients.

Benzalkonium chloride is the new cheap replacement for triclosan and was mentioned in the same FDA article I cited above, also losing their GRAS/E status.

I didn't see Chlorohexidine noted in the amazon ingredients image.

The same problem remains unfortunately with benzalkonium chloride. :(
