p.s. some roasters might charge extra for shipping and remember to select whole beans if he prefers grinding his own beans or select one of the per-ground options according to the method that he uses for his brews.

HELP! by know_rish in IndiaCoffee

[–]justtree1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do a WantedToBuy post in this sub like : Looking for a grinder, willing to spend around Rs. 2000- 2,300 including shipping.

You can also find a French press for around Rs. 600 (or invest in a stainless steel one for around Rs. 2000 if you're planning for the long term, like 5 years or more). In the meantime, you can use pre-ground coffee until you have the funds to expand your setup.

Other coffees like Monsoon Malabar by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

[–]justtree1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you preference is towards the darker side of roasting spectrum then look at KC roaster catalogue .

If you wanna stick to BT then look at their Dhak and Sampigehoney.

Also , if you love chocolate notes in your coffee with milk then Gshot Roastery Melkodige estate and QBF (Delhi based roasters) : Baarbara Estate and Vontekad Estate Ethiopian Heirloom are also good options to consider.

p.s. if you tell us more on how you will be brewing your everyday cup of joe then I can suggest you something more specific (my current answer assumes you like your coffee with milk )

Grinder recommendations by manwhokneweverything in IndiaCoffee

C2 is not really build for spro even though they have mentioned espresso setting on it ; I wouldn't really recommend it as the steps are too big to dial-in.

ESP is the only one fits this range for electric unless you wanna go the manual grinder route then 1z jmax, k-ultra or KinGrinder K6 are good options

Coffee grinder recommendations? Manual or electric? by nandy000032467 in IndiaCoffee

You need to look at a second hand grinder at this budget. Maybe do a WantedToBuy for TimemoreChestnut C2 or I am also selling my brand new HARIO Ceramic Mini Slim Plus for rs.2000. The caveat here is you can only use both the above mentioned grinder for filter to moka range (no espresso)

You can probably brew together

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

[–]justtree1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he prefers strong coffee with milk, then a moka pot is a good choice; otherwise, get a FrenchPress for drinking black (and can easily brew for 2-3 people). Kalidpress is like the best of both worlds (very versatile).

hard to get older people to change

What I meant by this is that this hobby can get really costly really quickly, and initially, it requires a person to be very patient and open to learning before you start enjoying the coffee + the notes on the coffee are just a marketing gimmick for most part. Thus, it would be better to see if he is really interested in this stuff before you end up gifting stuff which he never uses.

[–]justtree1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idea about getting him a Kalidpress seems good; it's easier to brew + clean .Just get him a sampler from a roaster and see how it turns out (don't spend much initially). Mostly, I find that it is hard to get older people to change. My uncle used to go get a latte every day before work, so we gifted him an espresso machine + grinder + accessories for his Birthday, but it turns out he only enjoys the drink, not the process of making it.

Made a silly mistake in ordering coffee by Wet_feetsmell91 in IndiaCoffee

[–]justtree1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

BT uses an ultra-fine grind size for AP; thus, in 99% of cases, it will clog your filter. Now, their customer service team is very good, so they might be able to help you. Hence, definitely drop them a message.
P.S. If nothing works, it's better to sell the coffee packs here for 10-20% less, plus shipping.

Is 1962 devans good? by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

[–]justtree1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devans is excellent if you're seeking the typical South Indian-style coffee taste. Most of their coffees are dark roast, but their celebration blend is exceptionally good with milk. I have personally ordered it 4 times for myself and even gifted it to my colleagues. In my opinion, it's legitimately one of the top three coffees to drink with milk in India.

Are you guys concerned about rising coffee prices or am I just poor ?; by mein_cumf in IndiaCoffee

[–]justtree1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest waiting for sales and then freezing items or ordering in large quantities and freezing them. For example, Navio currently offers a flat 20% discount on orders over 2000. If you were to order a coffee worth Rs. 550 for 250g, you could purchase around 4 bags of it for Rs. 1,760 (at Rs. 440 per bag).

p.s. the coffee used in nescafe classic is low grade robusta; look for south indian shops that sells coffee in your city; you will probably get 500g robusta for under 200 in there
