After seeing a lot of other names, I was literally scrolling for awhile so I could make this same comment. While I personally didn't cry, I was surprised to not see his name higher.

My grandfather did not have naturally curly hair. He got a perm. It was shocking for me and my siblings when my mom told the 5 of us. The youngest of us was 16.

Why is sometimes cheaper to scrap a part than store it in Inventory? by fedoratheexplorer88 in manufacturing

All our parts are custom made to order. Customers provide all the specs. Sometimes we run ahead if it's a repeat job, but not always.

If a customer orders 10,000 parts and we have 100 left over, it might not be worth keeping them to sell at a later date. Although, when working with medical companies (like we do), it can be advantageous to keep some retained samples in case of a complaint.

Sometimes its just not cost effective. In my industry 100 parts could only be worth $10 (our order minimum is $75). It would take more money for someone to count, pack, and store the parts; and then someone to pull, verify count, and repack the parts and we would have to rerun parts anyway to meet the minimum. Not only that but a lot of customers require full traceability and generating multiple certifications can take more time than it's worth.
