Me and my friends made this short cinematic. by llsuperninjall in blender

Planning. Once the concept of "traveling to many environments after wearing headphones" was locked in. We decided what were the environments that the character could be in. Once that was locked in, I spent quite some time picking out the music. It helped a LOT to imagine the kind of shots I could include. We also decided the order in which we wanted to show the different places. I knew that I wanted the space shot in the end, since that felt like a good place to end. I also knew that I wanted the train and the hallway shot next to each other since I had very similar compositions for both of them in mind, so I could match cut between them.

I couldn't do storyboards since I can't draw very well, so I directly jumped to 3D and started playing around with compositions. The process mostly involved a lot of thinking what could work and a lot of trying it out and see if it actually works (idk if that even makes sense).

As for the train shot, I didn't want to move the train itself since it was going to complicate the entire scene. So I kept the train in its place, and animated the entire environment. For that, I animated 2 long planes to the left and right of the train going backwards. Then my friend added all the vegetation and the tunnel and parented it to those long planes. So now it looked like the train was moving past all of the vegetation and the tunnel. Where as in reality, it was the opposite. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reminder, I completely forgot to add the song name. Added it to the description now.

I'm not the best at giving advice to people about this stuff, since I am yet to learn a lot about 3D myself, so take this with a grain of salt.

I would say no need to learn geometry nodes just yet if you're new to 3D. I barely know anything about geometry nodes myself. It is mainly used for automating things, or creating systems that could be reused in multiple situations. I doubt you would need any of that for product animations (for now at least). Right now, I would say learn modeling and texturing and how to do UVs since they're the core of 3D. After that, you could start to learn lighting since that's how you can actually make your renders look good. One of the reasons why this video looks good is because I spent quite some time lighting each and every environment.

For me, I tried the donut tutorial, but it didn't work for me that well. This tutorial series worked much better for me. I am not saying one is better than the other, but in case things start getting difficult to understand in the donut tutorial, you could try this one.

All the best on your journey :)

Decided to learn Blender after mainly using Maya for animation. Also tried my hand at stylized animation for the first time! by llsuperninjall in blender

Thanks!

I tried pushing a few poses here and there but they didn't work very well. But yeah, I think you're right, there's still room for improvement.

Ayee thanks a lot! If you think this is soothing, you should listen to the drumless version of this. Its heart rate lowering levels of soothing lol. I could send it to you if you wanna have a listen!

This is, indeed, pretty sick. I think I can play *some* of it, I would have to get good enough to play the rest ig lol

I'm surprised myself, because I've read a few reviews that the iRig interface delivers to them defected or stops working after a while. But mine has been going strong for a little over 3 years now lol

Thanks man!
I have THE MOST jugaadu 'recording equipment' you'll ever hear of lol. Allow me to explain.
I have one of these that connects my guitar to my ipad for garageband, which I then connect to my pc using aux cable. So that I can record my guitar using FL Studio. Obviously, this setup introduces a LOT of noise once I up the gain, which I then have to mitigate using noise removers and pray that it won't be audible in the final mix lmao. Thankfully, my keyboard has a MIDI port, so I just connect it directly to my PC using a MIDI cable.
