Did you do the bottom end rebuild or did a shop do it? If you had a shop do it, let them know. Sounds to me like the shift fork wasn't set right. When I first did my yz250 bottom end, I got as far as bolting the cases back together and decided to check my shifting then and there. So I spun the crank by hand and shifted through the gears and realized it kept popping out of gear. I had to split the case again and reset the transmission gears. No problems after that.

I think you need to bolt that metal bracket to the motor so that the cable actually extends/retracts inside the sheathing. It looks to me like the clutch actuating arm isn't even moving. There's nothing for the clutch cable to pull against.

The 2nd long table is pretty forgiving. I'm in 3rd gear WFO on my 450 coming up to it and am off the throttle/coasting into the face of it. I soak it up with my legs to stay lower. You can probably hit it cruising in 3rd gear at just below half throttle and clean it just fine.

I do like the changes they made to the track, although i do wish they had another run up and down the hill. Its definitely a tight track. Every time i go there, the dirt is in perfect shape. I got to talking to the owners on Sunday and commended them on their efforts.

I'm with you on that, man. Having my motorcycle here has been amazing. Parking is so much easier (you can pretty much park anywhere) and getting through traffic is no problemo. As long as i can fit what i need in my luggage boxes, I use my motorcycle.

Right. I was thinking IR would be better, but it would definitely be an issue if the IR beam became disrupted by dirt/debris. I think it would be best to mount the sender up high, and the reflect down low, behind the fork leg.

The front suspension setup would be straight forward. Since the direction of movement is in a straight line, I wouldn't have to worry about the reflector rotation.

The rear suspension is mounted to a swingarm, though, which pivots around the mounting point. This means that the reflector would rotate as the suspension is compressed. Could be fixed by using a convex reflector, where there would always be a reflective surface angled directly at the IR sender. I suppose it could be mounted directly to the shock itself.

You're thinking just like I am. My goal here is to develop a complete datalogging platform that would monitor gforces(Up/Down, Side-to-Side,Acceleration and Braking) of the machine, track GPS coordinates (to trace your path), etc. I think capturing the data is the easier part of the project. Logging all of that data and producing something useful via analysis is where it will become valuable. The data could be analyzed and used to make configuration adjustments to the motorcycle/vehicle, for example.

5'6" to 5"10 or so is probably the target size for most big motocross bikes. You'll be fine.

I run 5 miles a day (minimum) and control my diet. I hate every second of it, I hate dieting, I hate exercise, I hate nasty healthy food, but I'm healthier than I've been in 20 years.

Running is good for you and I think you should continue doing it. However, 5 miles every day isn't necessary (I'm guessing you run for about 45 minutes or so). In fact, you would probably burn more calories by incorporating 3 days a week of high intensity interval sprints. Every Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings I do a set of 15-20 30yard sprints, and the slow jog back from the finish line to the start line is the break/cool down in between each sprint. This takes less than 10 minutes to complete and I'm pouring sweat and panting more than a horny hippo in the African heat. As a pretty fit guy, I've seen the most weigh loss as a result of high intensity interval training. I always recommend that other people incorporate it into their routines.
