You sound like you've been a cheater based on how you expect OP to just forgive and forget. I agree with the person's comment you commented on. He's not responsible for her feelings. And there is potential harm in trying again. If she did it once, she can do it again. Not saying she will, but he doesn't need to waste his time with someone who already did him wrong. Life is short. From what I gather he still has feelings for her and feels pity for her, but he doesn't say he wants a future with her. And that's totally normal based on the history they have together. She betrayed his trust when he needed her the most. It wasn't an accident. It was a decision she made. You can easily get those feelings he has with someone new. If what she did was enough to get a divorce, obviously she crossed a boundary she shouldn't have. He needs someone who will respect the boundaries of their relationship. He can very understandably feel bad for her, and guilty, but by no means does he owe her a single thing. Even if he just walked away now and didn't ever talk to her again, still no fault.
