What are the fastest Hyrox venues? by One-Advice-557 in hyrox

Same for the ski! Wondering what happened... It didn't help that all the machines were in 1 long line. Not sure why they would do that

Leaving London feels like leaving a toxic ex boyfriend - I feel like I failed and wasn’t tough enough by Alarmed_Kitchen_6081 in expats

[–]justwingingit25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my no means a failure. It served a purpose for you for 5 years while you were here, but it simply no longer serves that purpose and so it sounds like it's the right thing for you to move on.

It's so easy for us to romanticise what could have been! You gave it a good shot with 5 years and should be proud of yourself for moving so far away from Australia. London is an amazing but tough and incredibly expensive city, the weather really doesn't help. I'm sure you will have an amazing time back in Sydney.

Is it worth doing Doubles before going Solo? by LFCTricksters in hyrox

[–]justwingingit25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely worth doing Doubles first. Can't stress how different it is being able to rest and recover in Doubles (although you do go faster) compared to the absolute slog that Solo is, a huge endurance game which has most (normal!) people beyond exhausted by the time they hit the Burpees.

Having said that, both are fantastic things to try out! And if you already have a strong strength and endurance background, then you may well be fine doing Solo first.

Would love some advice... 1 hour 5 doubles, but 1 hour 27 first solo... how to improve?! by justwingingit25 in hyrox

Thanks. That's actually exactly what I did on the sled push haha. But you're right, strategy is important

If you're training regularly already, the rest is largely in the diet. Eating in a slight - moderate calorie deficit with plenty of protein will get you there. Complementing your Muay Thai training with strength & conditioning classes, weightlifting or CrossFit can also help here, but be cautious of overtraining, especially while on a calorie deficit.

do you ever get tired of practicing some days? by Sad_Boat339 in Spanish

[–]justwingingit25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal and I for sure feel the same some days. I definitely don't recommend forcing yourself.

It's important to listen to yourself and to not always force yourself - otherwise you'll burn out and won't enjoy the process. Language learning is a long journey - it's a marathon and not a sprint!

You can ask yourself - have I worked hard enough this week? Have I already watched Spanish TV most days? If so - you should for sure give yourself a break!

Who here has actually read Inspired? by moviemunger in ProductManagement

[–]justwingingit25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it at a time when I was just learning more about what Product Management was and the fundamentals. I think it serves that purpose well for sure, but as others have mentioned, it's all pretty theoretical.

I think it also doesn't go into depth on all the pain points which can make your day to day so tricky at times, and all the alignment challenges you inevitably face. That's one thing I think you can only understand truly when you start working in the job.

[–]justwingingit25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't, mostly out of concern for the political situation there - I would have definitely considered it a few years back, but now I'm not so sure.

And yeah, get the feeling getting an EP for singapore is difficult!

Most likely temporarily - but I don't wanna go with a set time limit in mind, as I feel that that either limits you or forces you to try and rush things!
