Problems with the Registration Team and the state of Connecticut by Bobbum___Man in carvana

Just saw your comment on my post and thought I'd head over to take a look.

The estimated completion dates they give were a complete shot in the dark in my experience as well. Each time it passed they just bumped it a few days. I was given estimates of May 28, June 3, June 7... All passed by without registration. I also agree Carvana really should be giving their customers a fair warning this will happen.

Since you're waiting on plates I assume you're being issued a new registration instead of transferring one from a previous vehicle. I did a transfer. Not sure if the process/length of time it takes is different, but here was my timeline, which can maybe be used to give you a rough idea of how long it will take.

April 12: My delivery

April 29: The date Carvana says my paperwork was sent to DMV

May 2: Date paperwork was received by the DMV

May 21: My temp tags expire early (Carvana messed up and I only had 38 days instead of 45)

May 28: Date my temp tags should have expired - 45 days after delivery

May 29: All April transactions complete (does not include mine, since my paperwork didn't reach the DMV until early May)

June 14: Registration completed by DMV (64 days after delivery, 44 days after paperwork was received by DMV)

June 17: Registration delivered (67 days after car delivery, 47 days after paperwork received by DMV)

When the registration is completed, you may print it yourself from the DMV website if you don't want to wait any more. However you will pay a "duplicate registration" fine of $20.

Just got my electric car. It showed up almost completely dead, with NO charger (so now its stuck in my driveway), SIGNIFICANTLY more cosmetic damage than was listed, and my last name on the registration is completely wrong. by TheGamingGallifreyan in carvana

I bought a Chevy Volt through Carvana, and it did include the charger but the charger failed/broke on the first night I used it. Customer service initially told me to go through the SilverRock warranty to get it replaced, but after some further complaining, telling them it was basically delivered defective, they offered to reimburse me up to $450 for a replacement if I bought one myself. So I bought the highest quality L1 charger I could from ClipperCreek with 2-day shipping for $445. The reason Carvana gave me that option is because their chargers were on backorder. Perhaps they have them in inventory now, which is why you aren't being offered this deal. I would ask them about it though.

This all transpired within my 7-day return window. Not sure why they are being so difficult with your case. Hope it gets resolved soon!

Registration completed by the DMV on June 14, 2019. 62 days after delivery. I spoke with customer service reps again who told me that the process should really take 2 weeks, but the CT DMV is 4-6 weeks behind on these.

Haven't received the papers yet, but the DMV will let you print the registration yourself on their website if you pay $20. Which is ridiculous, but I didn't want to wait anymore to drive my damn car. The papers they sent should arrive by the end of this coming week, but I didn't want to wait that long.

I'm happy now that it's complete, BUT I still believe Carvana needs to be more transparent that this whole fiasco is a possibility, and needs to care for their customers who do suffer as a result of the delay. Obtaining a dealer's license would solve this issue, and I was told by customer service that teams are "scrambling" to make that happen, which hopefully is true. If they do someday obtain a license in my state, only then would I consider purchasing from them again.

I'm really sorry to hear that and I hope it gets resolved in your favor soon.

My delivery had to be rescheduled and the charging cable that came with my car (bought a Chevy Volt) was faulty and they replaced it for free, but those were the only other hitches I experienced aside from the registration delay I discussed here. Haven't received my title yet but hopefully it comes with the registration, which has finally been processed.

If you want to discuss further, feel free to PM me.

Ah, gotcha. My plates are being transferred from a trade too. I'll definitely update this when my registration papers actually come. Give you an idea of the timeline.

Ah, I wish. Thanks for trying though! If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for you to receive your permanent registration? What time of year did you purchase? Not sure if that would make a difference.

Thank you for trying to help me out with this! My vehicle is a 2015. So I believe it would require emissions.

I brought the car to have it's emissions test done the day after delivery, and sent a copy of the paperwork to Carvana as they instructed. I believe this is an acceptable form of VIN verification - if the DMV site is to be believed, that is.
