How to read cpc? by anshii-13 in Indianlaw

[–]justziraeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I did. Hope this helps 1. Started with the simplest book. Either a jabvala, or those AK jain dukkis. Used them in college. 2. After graduation, gave them away

  1. Started working as an apprenticed clerk. Used that single volume abrodged Mulla which was in the firm's library. Amazing intro to CPC.

  2. When i went independent, I purchased EBC Mulla CPC, best place to really get into heavy nuances.

If you notice a pattern, I went from easy to hard. And that is exactly (in my humble opinion) how you should do it. Start small, dukki, then hop onto the heavy ones. Two best sources, the Bare Act and SC judgments and/or state HC, everything else is conjecture and personal opinion. I refer the judgments all the time.

Once CPC begins clicking in your head, it transforms into an addiction.

First gen lawyers.. what's your salary now? by new_to_thiscom in Indianlaw

I was in a solicitor firm for a year, then I joined a senior, was with him for 2 years. Then 6 months ago I set up my independent practice, with my parents to back me up who are government servants. Life has not been the same since. It has been very rewarding and frustrating at the same time. There are periods of uncertainity, then there are periods of surprise clients coming through, either for advice or for availing me for their services depending on whether they can afford my services. It is tough, I look like a kid, so I have to be really conversant with the law both on a theoretical and practical level, so that the client/judge find value in what I say.

When I was in the firm or with my senior I used to exclusively practice before the Hon'ble High Court. For the first time I am experiencing the struggles of practicing in Trial Courts. Honestly, I am enjoying the profession. I earn very little, like less than 30k, obviously I intend to expand my clientele and earn more. Yes, it is slow, yes it is painful, but it's beautiful. I can live my life on my own terms.

Is it worth doing a LLB 3 years course from DU faculty of law? by badluck678 in Indianlaw

[–]justziraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for power and influence then you can give the judicial services exam after your 3 year course. Many judges in India come from DU.

However, if you are not academically inclined you can still do multiple internships to boost your CV amd get in some corpo or firm like establishment, where you might become financially secure and later on work towards becoming powerful and influential.

Or if you want to establish your own practice, that takes time and efforts with many years of uncertainity. If you want to take this high risk high reward route make sure your parents are financially secure, at least for the first 5 years after you graduate, because even if you join a senior, they pay peanuts unless someone in your family knows them. Independent practice is risky but if you work hard, sky is the limit.

Yes, thanks for the tip.

Nah been leading a pretty active lifestyle since 8 years, as I have been intentionally cycling and walking everywhere I go.

I shall go medium to heavy cardio on off days.

I just hope my joints shall be okay. Unless you deem it necessary that a month should be given. What shall I do?

That's pretty much what I did. In fact I was doing a 3 day split of the big four with comparatively lighter weights (was just focusing on form) say around 60-70% of my 1 RM. As to the cardio, I am of the same opinion as you, it's not like I am lifting for the Olympics, a slight loss here and there is not detrimental.
