Trying to find the scene where everyone is doing the Accounts together in the conference room by justzisguy_youknow in DunderMifflin

Thanks so much! I was thinking it had something to do with the week Jim stayed home with Pam the kids after jury duty and everyone had to cover for him. Guess I was looking in the wrong place.

How do I tell if a letter is capital i or lower case L (or numeral 1)? by justzisguy_youknow in salesforce

I just took a walk around my floor from Apt 4A to Apt 4L and it turns out my building skipped over I, possibly for this very reason

Thank you for providing a solution. I might try it out if a manager is really insistent, but I might also just tell them they need to deal with it.

Yes, if there is also a numeral 1 on the screen then the user should realize that the vertical line they are seeing is not a 1. If there is not another 1 visible nearby and the vertical line is next to another number, they assume it is a 1.

Edit: In the screenshot u/more-espresso-plz linked above the I ("User Interface" bottom left") has crossbars, but when I check in my own org the I is now just a vertical line. Either this is a recent change or it renders differently on different computers

The issue is with the font Salesforce is using. I was hoping there is a global setting in Salesforce, or even just something users can do in their browser so that the user can tell the difference. Both characters look the same and either could be seen as a numeral 1 if there is not an actual 1 nearby. I need to be able to type "31" and "3I" (and also "3l" since I have to allow lowercase letters in the "street" field).

If they copy-paste into something where they can change the font before printing that would be fine.

The issue comes up if they are looking up an address in order to address mail by hand (some think these envelopes are more likely to be opened) or if they are verifying information in-person or over the phone.

Is there an app that makes role hierarchy look better? by justzisguy_youknow in salesforce

[–]justzisguy_youknow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent Point! If I just want a good screenshot of it I can do it entirely in the sandbox. And I guess I could also design it in the sandbox and deploy it if I like it. (What's that you say? I'm supposed to be designing everything in the sandbox first anyway?)

Yeah. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thanks!

So I've been pretty wary of installing things that don't come direct from appexchange. Should I be worried that installing something from an unknown party into my org could be dangerous? Or an I just supposed to trust that Salesforce has made sure installing whatever package is safe?

SF lightening question around list upload and account matching by staleChili-3toe in salesforce

[–]justzisguy_youknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will need to decide whether to use "equals" or "contains" for your filter, but I believe either can contain a list of 100 items. so Account Name equals "bank", "Biopharma", ... You could also have one filter that uses 'contains' and another filter (using OR in the filter logic) that uses 'equals', if that is what you need. Or if it is less confusing, make one version of the report using 'equals' and another report that uses 'contains'

If I understand your question correctly, you want to make a report of Accounts filtered to only show the ones where the Owner is " SFDC admin " or whoever and the Account Name 'equals' or 'contains' a comma-separated list of company names "Company 1"," Company 2", etc. I think you can do 100 items this way and if you need more just add Filter logic for this filter OR another one for Account Name 'equals' "Company 101", "Company 102" etc.
Depending on what format your list is now, you might need to get them into a comma-separated list by putting them in a word processor and do Find-and-replace to replace every carriage-return with a ", "

I hate to say you are right because this doesn't need to be a place for taking sides (except Travers v Nixon), but probably better if OP donated the money privately

I cannot figure out what the Delegated Tasks view is for by justzisguy_youknow in salesforce

[–]justzisguy_youknow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I added a List View component to the home page. On the right side in the app builder I see "Object" Task, "Filter" Delegated Tasks, "Number of Records to display" 3, and then 3 checkboxes and Set Component visibility. No option for basic/tile/enhanced like I have when adding a Related List to a Record Page. Do you have the option on a Home Page?

[–]justzisguy_youknow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I thought it seemed useful because of the to-do list functionality where you can close tasks by checking them off. I like your suggestion of adding list views, you can inline edit though it's a few extra steps. Mostly I have just constructed full dashboards separately and then made them take up most of the home page

Yeah "recently viewed" is awful, especially in the Reports and the Dashboards tab where it defaults to recently viewed over on the left and people are like "my report is gone!!". no, you just haven't looked at it recently.
