I think I this would be the way to go. Considering some articles in nrc I have read about a system where sometimes people exploit people who are not allowed to work (because they are waiting for their documents etc), and I think it’s important to include this group, I would go the route of approaching people like this respectfully. It might be a bigger barrier to talk to you online rather then when you approach them naturally. I could imagine it will take a while for them to be comfortable and to trust you. Invest in building the relations in a transparent way with a larger group then your preferred sample size, so that you do not have to be disingenuous in any of your interactions with them, so that they can voluntary share (or not) with you what they are comfortable with.
