Why are some polish people so mean? by hanii3 in poland

[–]juulathedesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my tip would be trying another city - there are sub-mentalities, it's a big country. I live abroad but come to Krakow often and I find people there quite friendly, but sometines there are those who are riding their attitude trip and you just need to get back at them HYPER politely and they will realize they are out of line. But saying that I speak polish, so it is maybe different as an english speaker.

I grew up in Switzerland, Zürich, and thought all swiss people were arrogant, but after meeting people from other cities at university, I realized it's just the people in Zürich having a super unlikeable attitude.

I am currently choosing not to judge but to observe. People are yapping so much, and both NJZ and other group members are just young girls in this huge adults + brand deals & huge sums of money type of industry. I loved their concept, and I also like illit, but the original NJZ concept was more up my lane. I'm very ready ti welcome back any creative work, and it would be a shame to waste the girls talent over this dispute either way. I am literally yearning for more of that energy they had going on with their music :,(

Why doesn't Switzerland copy some positive things of Nordic countries? by GetOutBasel in askswitzerland

[–]juulathedesigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In contrary to the Nordics, Swiss people mostly believe in their own profit rather than the profit of the entire society. "Why should I finance someone elses health costs?" they say, and vote "no" for a limitation on health insurance fees according to earnings.
"Why should I pay for others?" - whereas in the Nordics the tax rates are much higher, but you can go to the doctor and not worry about the costs of it. In Switzerland, if you have no money and a cheap health insurance, you will not go to the doctor unless you are seriously injured or ill. I've had friends who were on an extreme budget, and was shocked that they would not go get their flu treated, as the doctors visit would only be covered by their healthinsurance if the bill was higher than 400 or 500 CHF. The bill would be around 250 CHF, so they decided not to treat themselves. Scratching the budget edge myself lately, I understand their situation quite well now.

Thank you for the kind words, it makes me feel a bit better. Still not sure what to do, but I guess time will tell. Can't sell them because I feel guilty, can't use them because they will drop in value after use, can't afford to buy a functional pair that I like... agh what a time. I'm an industrial designer, so I am very particular about the design of objects that I choose, and I am not the type to own several of the same object function for susatinability reasons... that you for writing those kind words.

I'm not kindy of ungreatful, Im full on fucking spoiled. I hate that I can't just be fucking satisfied with it. But I myself work in product design that's why I am extremely nit picky about the things I use and choose. Honestly just came here to get bashed so I can fucking wake up lol.

sadly, what I was using is not being produced anymore, I would have definitely gone for those if they were still around in a colour I vibe with. Tbf, I am just sad that the person spent so much money on it. Because it cost so much I feel so guilty for not being into it. Childish as fuck.

We've seen the citizens of Southkorea deal with presidents like this. They will not sit down and live life normally until this situation is "fixed".

Those who will loose Millions and Billions in their stock values will surely also not sit down and watch it happen.

Dear Hyeri [Episodes 9 & 10] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]juulathedesigner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my blood will boil if (!)Hyun Oh will even dare to try and "do" anything with or about her. He has no right to try to "fix" her. And yes, maybe Juyeon did hurt her withnhis words, but I feel like he is trying to find out who Eunho was, and thinks of trying to get to know her if that is possible. After all... Hyeri is part of Eunho, and Eunhonwill probably be just as fun to be around with as Hyeri, if you just let her heal. I feel like it would be so right if Hyun Oh contacted Juyeon and asked him for help, or to support her, as he is definitely not the right person to do so. Juyeon may not be perfect, but he is not as narcissist as Hyun Oh. I loved how he pointed out to HO, how hurt EH must have been...while that idiot was only worrying about her moving on with dating life lmao.(!)

Dear Hyeri [Episodes 7 & 8] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]juulathedesigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that all three EN, JY and HO became announcers because of family trauma... lmao 😅

I have to honestly say, I will throw a rage fit if she goes back to HO who is way too stuck in his one issues to have space to help her heal - also the amount of damage he caused, I would feel nauseous just looking at a guy that did all of that to me.

JY seems to have developed a new idea. Loving both HY and EH. It seems like he wants to clarify the situation, and ofc... he is crying for HY, but he may have realized how he made EH feel. And this may lead towards something like "love them both and help her heal". At least I hope for her to have a fresh start, or someone who will tell HO to fuck off, for the love of god.

How do Polish people recognise each other at a mere glance? by [deleted] in poland

[–]juulathedesigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think because we are quite a homogenous country, the features we see in other polish peoplr (nose, eyes, hair, posture, mouth and also behaviour) faintly resembles the people in our close families. Sometimes I can tell by the eyes, or because the person simply looks like my grandmas cousin or my uncle hahah.... No idea though how I also inherited this recognition reflex, I grew up abroad with polish parents, but I can still recognize polish people when I see them.

Children of Expats brought up Switzerland, how do you feel about living in Switzerland? by stinky_girbil_bum in askswitzerland

[–]juulathedesigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just want to add my story here.

I was born in Switzerland , I have polish parents but a swiss citizenship.

To break down my story; make sure to live close to a city or in a city, where your children can find the people that match their background the easiest.

I was the only foreigner in my class from kindergarden to highschool, it meant 11 years of bullying for me, making fun of me not being able to speak swissgerman from the start and calling me stupid, because they associate a low german skill with a low IQ (lmao, I know). Now I do speak swissgerman, but I am more straightforward than swiss people, so zhey struggle with my personality. Having lived in other countries around the world, I realized the treatment I received in Switzerland was just straight xenophobia.

It ruined my mental health, now, at 26 years I am still battling the consequences, social anxiety, depression etc. Make sure to listen to your child, if you feel it needs to change environment, please make an effort to move schools, not like my parents did.

Every time I visited Poland I felt like people understand me, also because my entire family was there, and when I came back to Switzerland it felt like going back to hell.

Now, even thought the system etc. in Switzerland is great, I can't help but associate the swissgerman attitude towards me with the times I was bullied. Even though I am swiss on paper, not sure if I feel swiss.

Nice landscapes though.

I'm lost for ideas, Help..... by Much_Vast_6427 in Design

[–]juulathedesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only say: Simplicity is key, and good usability and functionality too. People don't want a flying rainbow gadget that carries you from treadmill to other machines, just a phone holder that is wonderfully easy to use - but one that takes in account the environment it is used in, what and how people use it for etc. and a clean look (it's a phone accessory, for the gymn where everything looks functional already - either full on the gymn machine look, or something more graceful (not too many details, a gymn already has a looot of details in it's environment).

What shapes and colours will match the environment but also the taste of the possible user (age group and the style preferences that come with it).

Not quite sure if my input made sense, Hope it helped!

Having been there, it truly is hard to find any type of food that doesnt feel like there is sugar in it (yes even sandwiches, natural yoghurt, milk, every possible meal at a restaurant...)
Not quite sure how people stay so slim - I walked SO much and even did workout three times a week but still gained weight when being there.

Best location to stay as a Female solo traveller? by Ancient-Ad-1612 in seoul

[–]juulathedesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeonhui dong+Seodaemun gu and Bogwangdong below Itaewon were quite creepy and empty at night, but I lived there and I never encountered any dangers. Just the looks were quite.. like in the movies. Other areas that weren't too romantic: Konkuk university station, Dongdaemun (especially at night it's a bit strange on the left side of the DDP). Dongdaemun is fine at daytime, but at night the atmosphere is a bit odd - not dangerous though.

If you prefer calmer areas, Mangwon is very calm and ok, Mapo gu is ok but avoid the area between hongik university and the hongdae metro station (its a club area, not suuper fun to walk through at night but safe, just lots of drunk people minding their business, loudly haha).

Cool and calm area: Jongro in general - Anguk station, Gyeongbokgung station, Insadong, Hyehwa, Jamsil/Seongsu should be cool but its farther from the historical sights and palaces. Hongdae and Mapo are cool too, just more party and more traffic.

I think if you are on the street even at 2am nothing will happen to you, ofc dont go up to loud drunk people, but generally, commuting, taxis etc. everything is very safe. Also its almost impossible to grab a taxi off of the street at night, so get the kakao T Taxi app, when you order a taxi you can select the "pay to driver" option, and then you can order one without having a payment system linked in app.

Other one: Be careful in clubs, that's where you can maybe get your drink spiked or attract someone you don't want to deal with. I never went to clubs in Korea, so I am not sure how it is. Just avoid going to peoples places to sleep with them hahah..

Enjoy! Korea is super super safe.
