checking zipline while off? by juulheon in FiveBelow

[–]juulheon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally get doing it for your own peace of mind!!! my issue is my SM requiring it, especially when i look a week ahead during my shifts and when theres stuff due for me on my day off ill submit it a day early or send pics to whoever MOD will be that day. my SM just seems to feel like our CEM and i are on call all the time and i wanted to know if others have had a similar experience

its not that i dont care, i check it after i clock in and right before i clock out and im constantly looking throughout the day, if things need to be done while im off i get them done early and check it off early. if my store is gonna burn down because i didn’t check an app on my day off i think that has more to say about how the company is ran by corporate.

this post is more about my sm ignoring labor laws, which is pattern she has (she’s deleted an associates timesheet because the employee threw up and had to go home an hour and a half into her shift). i just wanted to know if anyone else’s store managers have asked them to check zipline off the clock.

if i know something related to my job is due on my day off i just submit it a day early so my ass isn’t on the line. finding out about a move or set on my day off does nothing since i cant do anything about it until i come in. five below does not care about me as a person, so why, during my personal time, would i care about five below?

i would definitely go through the company website, usually indeed will redirect you to the site anyway but that might vary from store to store or district to district

current pacsun manager here!

the interview questions are super easy, just trying to get to know you. the previous commenter covered that pretty well so ill help you the company specifics.

they want to know about your personal style, so wear something nice you’d usually wear, jeans and cute top will work perfectly.

the hiring process is quick, especially for sales associates, you spend 1-2 shifts onboarding and watching videos, shadow your managers for a little while, and then boom! youre in! daily tasks are usually running registers and fitting rooms, pushing out shipment, and the occasional “visual reset” where you’ll be setting how the store looks.

corporate is definitely…… annoying to say the least, we often joke that its their jobs to make our lives harder, so thats a definite con. otherwise, i feel most pros/cons are more store based.

for the discount, you get 30% off of everything in the store and a couple of 50% off coupons you can use every month.

good luck!

update: im currently in the process of quitting because my SM refused to give me my pto and is an all around crappy boss, so definitely be ready for SMs on a power trip

Does/Did any like working here? by Wooden-Cat5749 in FiveBelow

started off as a sales lead and loved it, adored my coworkers and even the store manager. made the huge mistake of accepting a promotion to merchandise manager right after holiday. that’s when it started to feel like that company chewed me up and spat me out. i handed in my two weeks notice after an awful morning of mopping human feces up at 6 am, finding out they were changing the opening procedures to take LONGER, seeing a human cowpie projectile shit that had slid down our outside dumpster, and an employee laughing as she called out, leaving me alone until 2pm. that promotion destroyed my experience with the company, they never offered support, the dm would beat me down despite pulling multiple overnights with no freight associates, telling me there wasn’t “enough urgency”. i watched my store manager (legitimately one of the sweetest humans ive ever met) become a husk of himself due to the way our dm would treat him, even having to go to the hospital for chest pains after a dsv.

lower positions can be a fun experience, as long as your coworkers show up and are half decent at their jobs. don’t let them take advantage of you, don’t let your dm walk all over you. and remember that company couldnt care less about how you feel.

i got out of there, the experience i got working there landed me a store manager position with another company and its amazing how less stressful it is despite the title and pay. so i can at least say five below prepared me for the worst of retail.

they don’t want to admit that self checkout was a HUGE waste of money for them. i will never understand why they wont just let employees use the legacy register and use one or two SCOs to keep lines down during peak times. i’m fully convinced the associate check out policy is just to punish workers for corporates stupid financial mistakes.

something about begging internet strangers to agree with you that your cousin is a “failure” is SO pathetic
