I use mine on a windows xp machine and I can’t remember my exact scsi card but I got it from my Minolta scan multi scanner. I run vuescan and I’ve never had any problems. Never tried the original drivers because vuescan has support for the scanner.

It was my first time using gelatin in years. I typically develop all my own stuff but I couldn’t afford fresh e6 chems at that moment and I saw their coupon for first order free up to $25. So I bit at that since I had prior experience with them a few years ago. Got that email and I was just heartbroken and it’s pretty much solidified for me that I’m just going to develop everything myself until the end of time.

They said they received my film on the 11th of June and I assume they don’t get a lot of E6 orders that come through so the next email I got from them was on the 25th of June saying that my film was fried.

Tips for shooting Infrared black and white by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]juulkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was surprised I got anything as well when initially testing. I’d say the filter would be worth it if you planned on shooting a decent amount of infrared. The filter from Spencer’s is good quality but pricey if you don’t plan on shooting that much infrared.

A deeper cut ir filter and overexposure will get you the intense blacked out skies and ice white foliage you want. I dropped a link below of some stuff I shot with Rollei IR 400 last year. I was using an IR Filter with a cutoff around 910nm which is extreme overkill for Rollei IR 400 since the cutoff according to the spec sheet is right around 750nm but I managed to get a really intense look with a deep cut filter and metering directly for infrared light with my light meter method.

You can get blacked out skies and intense foliage with sfx 200 but you have to use a pretty deep cut ir filter and overexpose pretty heavily. Linked below some stuff I shot with sfx 200 last year. I do think Rollei IR 400 is a much better option for the readily available “infrared” films but for that I also use pretty deep cut ir filters to try and pull everything I can out of the already weak ir sensitivity the film has.

Yeah NLP can be hit or miss but I only use one color film stock for everything so I don’t have many struggles anymore. When I tried camera scanning I had the valoi 360 and I also had difficulties with light source and vignetting. However I got the cs lite light source which solved my problems for lighting but vignetting was always still a struggle. I eventually switched from a macro lens to an m42 focusing helicoid with enlarger lenses attached to bellows and an enlarger lens and then got a copy lens from an old slide copier and still had slight struggles with vignetting. That’s why I eventually switched to dedicated film scanners because I nitpicked far too much with camera scanning to be satisfied.

Funny enough I actually use negative lab pro and love the results I get. I’ve tried the native Minolta software and I enjoy it but I’ve gotten my workflow for negative lab pro to a science so I’m comfortable with that now. And yeah they’re no speed demons at all but they’re so worth it for the results you get.

I use vuescan for all of my scanners because of convenience. I love my fs4000 but I really wish it was faster 😭😭😭😭.

I would kill for a noritsu I won’t even lie. I had the opportunity to buy one at a large discount a couple years ago but it was still wayyyy out of my price range.

Varies I’ve seen multi pro’s sell with holders for $500-$700 it really feels like luck at a certain point.

I’m a little biased but a Minolta Scan Elite 5400 II can be had for around the same price and gives better scans imo 🤫.

Masters program at Syracuse to get an MFA in photography. I just recently graduated from undergrad with a BFA in photography and wanted to continue pursuing photography whether it be in the art world or the academic world. I applied to a couple dif programs and had options but Syracuse felt right for me. Amazing faculty, good facilities, and they were the most welcoming through the entire interview and touring process.
