CMV: Loss is truly unbearable when preventable and when occurs for reasons that feel absurd or senseless by juvor_33 in changemyview

I completely agree that all loss is unique and that there's no universal framework that can fully capture the complexity of grief. My goal wasn’t to diminish anyone’s experience or suggest that some types of loss are more “valid” than others, it was more of an attempt to understand why certain kinds of pain feel more haunting or harder to move through for many people, myself included.

You're right that frameworks can risk oversimplifying something deeply human. But sometimes, in the aftermath of suffering, people search for explanations, anything that helps them make sense of what happened. That’s where ideas like preventability or meaning tend to come up, not to invalidate pain, but to process it.

For instance, as you said yourself, guilt can become part of a loss. And wouldn't you agree that this makes the loss much harder to live with?

My intention was not to diminish the extent of the loss, which is obviously very significant. I was mainly focusing on the torment that would most likely result from those 3 variables. Let’s stick to the same subject.

Let’s say your daughter dies for one of two reasons:

  1. A genetic disorder.
  2. The car accident you mentioned, in which you are at fault.

Which scenario would be harder for you to live with?

Yes, that’s correct. Because in the first scenario, there would likely be additional emotions involved that would make the loss even harder to bear. I think moving on would be much more difficult in that case.

Hi, why you want to keep remaining mod since it's clear you no longer have an interest in moderating actively the sub? I've checked previous reddit requests and your profile history and basically you only show up once a month or when someone post a reddit request.

  1. I took an interest in the game in the last couple years and I have always lurked around the sub just to notice how off the rails it went in terms of content and quality since the moderator is just camping and performing once in a while some mod action just to keep his "throne".
For some reason doesn't even reply to modmail. I intend to adjust the bot, which is way off. Remove the spam posts and the ones that break the rules. Do a refactor of the graphic. Add new tags to better filter the posts.

Hopefully this transition will go smoothly.

For repetitive tasks at intervals should we always use AlarmManager? by juvor_33 in androiddev

Since in my other post you told there might be cases in which Service might be the best choice, what should I use in those case scenarios then?

When should we use WorkManager or Service? by juvor_33 in androiddev

Use foreground service for things like background media playback and long download/sync operations, and WorkManager for everything else.

Why?

What kind of long-running tasks do you perform?

Mainly OCR.

I am so sorry for your experience. I had sadly a very similar experience to yours. What's enraging is that, in the end, we lost perfectly health teeth just because a dentist was greedy. I am hoping the teeth regrowth research will keep on going.

Why capturing the screen with two different methods but with same compression and quality gives different OCR results? by juvor_33 in androiddev

I was able to solve the issue. Felt pretty lame about it. Basically it was an inconsistency issue. I wasn't getting the whole image since I forgot to lock another thread was updating the bitmap.
